St George Dragons vs Manly Sea Eagles Tips

Manly visit the Shire for the second time in two weeks and will be celebrating captain Daly Cherry-Evans 300th game. The Sea Eagles will take on the St George Illawarra Dragons, after getting an upset victory against the Sharks last weekend.

The Dragons also come into round 22 on the back of a victory against the Wests Tigers. I am predicting that the Dragons are going to put up a fight against the Sea Eagles in what is traditionally a high-scoring contest.

That is why I am backing the OVERS in the Game Total and St George Team Total. Manly has not been able to stop opposing fullbacks in the last month, so a fourth try in as many games is expected for the inform Tyrell Sloan.

  • Manly have conceded an average of 24 points against in their last 5 games
  • The OVER has hit in 7 of the last 10 games involving St George
  • 4 of the last 6 games between the Dragons and the Sea Eagles have gone OVER the Game Points Total
  • Manly have conceded a try to opposing fullbacks in their last 3 matches

Head to Head

St George have the upper hand head-to-head against the Sea Eagles recently, winning four of their last six contests, including a 38-12 victory last time they played at WIN Stadium.

St George and Manly met just once last season with the Dragons getting up comfortably 20-6 at Jubilee.

St George Illawarra Dragons Form

The Dragons got their first win in four matches against the Tigers last week, taking them up to 15th on the NRL ladder.

Another win will boost their chances and almost guarantee that they will not be handed the wooden spoon in 2023.

St George Illawarra Dragons Team News

Moses Mbye has been released early from the club, creating an opportunity for Connor Muhleisen to make his NRL debut coming off the bench.

Manly Sea Eagles Form

Since putting on 58 points against the Dolphins in round 15, the Sea Eagles attack had been lying dormant until the first half against Cronulla last weekend, putting on 24 points.

What we can take from that will be seen this weekend against St George who have had some heavy defensive trouble in 2023.

Taniela Paseka (knee) and Josh Aloiai (shoulder) are both sidelined, resulting in Toafofoa Sipley returning at prop, teaming up with new signing Matt Lodge.

Ethan Bullemor joins the bench alongside Dean Matterson and veteran Aaron Woods.

Verdict

I am predicting a high scoring match on Saturday between the Dragons and the Sea Eagles, so it is all about the OVERS. The Game Total of 45.5 and St George’s Team Total of 18.5 will be surpassed.

Tyrell Sloan has been a spark for the Dragons in his last three games and will find the line once again.
