South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Sydney Roosters Tips

This match will be the Friday night blockbuster that everyone tunes into with the outcome of this game setting the tone for the rest of the weekend's battle for the final two top 8 spots.

Both teams have lost a little strike power due to injury and suspension, but it is Easts that are coming into this do-or-die game with positive momentum. With all the negative ruckus around Souths, I am quite surprised that they are starting as 1.5-point favorites.

Sydney has won four straight and they will make it 5 this week and I will be taking the Moneyline. Even with the disturbance of the early exit of Joey Manu last week, the Roosters still managed to put on 32 points on Wests.

I will be taking the Chooks to score over 21.5 points on a tired Rabbitohs defensive line. Joseph Suaalii has been in tryscorering form for the Roosters and will be the main target for the Sydney halves this week.

  • Roosters have won 4 in a row.
  • Roosters have won 2 of their last 3 against the Rabbitohs.
  • The Roosters are averaging 30.5 points in attack over their last 4 games.
  • Joseph Suaalii has scored 5 tries in his last 4 games.

Head to Head

The Roosters came back from a 12-point deficit in round 3 against the Rabbitohs, scoring four unanswered tries around both sides of halftime to hand them a 20-18 victory over their Sydney rivals.

The Roosters have won two of their last three meetings, however, the Rabbitohs had won four straight prior.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Form

South’s season just hasn’t been the same since the origin period.

Their form has dipped immensely and they can’t seem to keep their team out of the bad media spotlight, which is obviously affecting their on-field performance.

The Bunnies have lost three of their last five games and have conceded an average of 27 points in the last second half of the season.

The Rabbitohs year now comes down to a final performance, if they beat the Roosters they make the eight, if they lose they are out, it's that simple.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Team News

Latrell Mitchell will be out due to suspension with Blake Taafe taking his place at the back.

Jacob Host and Siliva Havili are also out, while Izaac Thompson comes back on the wing for Taane Milne.

Sydney Roosters Form

The Roosters have hit their stride and are flying high heading into the final week of the season.

The Chooks have won five of their last six games, scoring an average of 28 points per game, while conceding just 16 points against.

They may have left their run just a little too late though. They will need to win this week and in all reality rely on either Canberra or North Queensland to lose their match.

Sydney Roosters Team News

Captain James Tedesco returns at fullback with Joey Manu back in the centres. Manu may be a late scratch with Corey Allan the likely replacement.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is out for the year and a little of next season after his late hit last weekend. Fletcher Baker comes into the starting lineup with Angus Crichton back on the bench.

Sydney Roosters Team List

The Chookies will book their spot in the finals for the seventh consecutive year at the expense of the Rabbitohs. The fine form of Sydney’s attack will see them score over 21.5 points on the poor Souths’ defence. Suaalii will be a high target for the Roosters halves and he will cross for a try.
