South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Sydney Roosters Predictions

The Roosters have been eye-catching in the opening two rounds. The Rabbitohs are a different test, but I'm tipping a Chooks victory and Brett Morris to continue his tryscoring run.

  • South Sydney Rabbitohs are 1-1 for the 2021 season.
  • South Sydney Rabbitohs posted a record 60-8 win over Sydney Roosters last season.
  • Sydney Roosters have won both games this season and top the NRL ladder.
  • Sydney Roosters have scored 86 points in their last 2 matches (34 points more than any other side).
  • Sydney Roosters' Brett Morris has scored 6 tries in his last 2 matches.
  • Sydney Roosters' Brett Morris is the first player to score hat-tricks in the opening two rounds of a season.

Head to Head

The last 10 meetings have been edged by the Roosters 6-4, but the Chooks have a heavy defeat fresh in the memory.

South Sydney Rabbtihos handed out a 60-8 hammering to their rivals in the final round of the 2020 season in a huge shock against the then defending premiers.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Form

Souths Sydney made an amends for an opening round loss when levelling their ledger for the season with a 26-12 win over Manly Sea Eagles last week.

The Rabbitohs trailed 22-0 after 31 minutes of their Round 1 clash with Melbourne Storm. They produced a comeback but lost 26-18 to the defending premiers.

Last week, Wayne Bennett's side were comfortable from the outset against a poor Manly side in Round 2. They raced into a 10-0 lead within 16 minutes and cruised to victory.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Team News

Halfback Adam Reynolds has been named to start but will need to pass a concussion test.

Prop Junior Tatola has also been listed despite a hamstring problem. Jai Arrow, Mark Nicholls and Patrick Mago are on standby to come into the run on side.

Winger Josh Mansour is handed a recall in place of Jaxson Paulo, but Liam Knight continues to be kept out by concussion.

Sydney Roosters Form

The Roosters have been the team of the opening rounds, recording two emphatic victories to sit top of the ladder heading into Round 3.

The Chooks have put a straight sets exit from last year's finals firmly behind them with wide-margin wins over Manly Sea Eagles and Wests Tigers.

The Roosters racked up 40 points unanswered against Manly before winning 46-4 in Round 1. Brett Morris scored three tries in the rout.

Trent Robinson's side followed that by defeating Wests 40-6 in another one-sided affair last weekend. Morris got another hat-trick of tries.

Sydney Roosters Team News

Long-term absentee Victor Radley is back for the first time in almost a year with the back rower named on the bench.

Angus Crichton is back after a one-game suspension, but Jake Friend (concussion) and Sam Verrills (knee) both remain unavailable.

Drew Hutchison drops into the reserves, which also features possible debutant Sam Walker.

When is South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Sydney Roosters being played?

The match is being played at ANZ Stadium on Friday, March 26.

South Sydney were 52-point winners against their bitter rivals in the last round of 2020. The 60-8 defeat was a huge blow to the Sydney Roosters' hopes of landing a third straight premiership.

After a near-perfect start to the 2021 season, I'm predicting the Tricolour will gain revenge and defeat Souths on Friday with Brett Morris producing more magic.
