It has been turmoil at Souths and there are still question marks around their defensive capabilities, however, they have found their mojo in attack and it will be the stability of Jack Wighton in the halves that will lead them over their team total of 21.5 points and get the win as 4.5-point dogs.

Brisbane have been out of form lately and will struggle with their trip to Accor Stadium where they have had very little success recently. Expect Latrell Mitchell to continue his hot run and lead South to an unlikely victory by scoring a try.

  • Souths have beaten Brisbane in  3 of their past 4 games at Accor Stadium.
  • Souths have scored 40+ points in their past two matches.
  • Brisbane have conceded an average of 31 points in their 6 losses.
  • Latrell Mitchell has scored 4 tries in his past 4 games.

Head to Head

It is always a fiery battle between the Rabbits and the Broncs and it has been the Northerners that have got the better of Souths recently, winning 4 out of the past 5 contests, including a 28-18 victory at Suncorp in Round 2.

Reece Walsh scored two tries in that match and also had a linebreak and a linebreak assist. The Broncos fullback will miss this game.

Have Souths turned the corner?

Two wins either side of the Round 13 bye with their attack finally starting to click and live up to the expectations it had at the start of the season with Jack Wighton moving to the club.

A 42-26 victory over Parra and a 46-12 demolishing of the Gold Coast has given their season a breath of life as the former Canberra five-eight Wighton moved back into his familiar position with the No. 6 on his jersey. The move has given some much needed stability in the halves with Cody Walker, which has superficially (at the moment) unlocked his halves partner, along with Latrell Mitchell and Damien Cook.

The linebreaks (14) and tries (15) have more than doubled on their season averages over the past two weeks, however, it has been against the two worst defensive teams in the NRL besides Souths themselves.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Team News

Brisbane’s season is running off course as it usually does around Origin time, however, besides their loss to the Gold Coast, three of their defeats have been against the top three teams in the comp with the other two a double loss against the Roosters.

The alarm bells are still ringing considering they have not been able to get a win against the best sides in the NRL this season, even when they have been at full strength.

The Brisbane attack has struggled without Adam Reynolds in the side, losing the run metres battle with the Gold Coast in their loss two matches agao then getting absolutely starved of the territory against the Sharks, playing just 29% of the game in their opponents half.

We also see in their losses that their defence is susceptible to a creative attack, allowing an average of 31 points against when they lose.
