The Sydney Roosters host the Canberra Raiders at the SCG on Friday to kick off Week 2 of the NRL Finals Series. The Roosters suffered a one point loss to the Penrith Panthers last week, while the Raiders saw off Cronulla Sharks and are out to avenge last year's Grand Final loss to the Chooks.

Roosters Form & Team News

The defending premiers provided a rollercoaster performance last weekend, flying to a 10-0 lead early against the Panthers before conceding 28 straight points. They then made a comeback only to lose 29-28.

The Roosters will be looking to rediscover their best form this weekend after back-to-back losses, as the two-time defending premiers bid to keep the defence of their title.

Club captain Jake Friend has been named to return at hooker, pushing Freddy Lussick out of the side. Sonny Bill Williams has been named on the bench, replacing Nat Butcher.

Raiders Form & Team News

The Canberra Raiders will be out to avenge last year’s controversial Grand Final loss to the Roosters, and come into the Semi-Final off the back of a strong win in Week 1 of the finals.

Jack Wighton was nothing short of sensational against the Cronulla Sharks, scoring two tries in their 32-20 win at home in the Elimination Final.

Ricky Stuart has named an unchanged side from last week's victory.

The Roosters have dominated the head-to-head matches against the Raiders, winning 26 of 39 games. The score has been settled at one apiece in 2020, however, with the Raiders winning 24-20 in Round 10, and the Roosters winning 18-6 in Round 17.

Roosters vs Raiders Betting Odds

The Roosters are $1.45 favourites to defeat the Raiders ($2.75) in the Semi-Final. The line has been set at +6 points for the Raiders and -6 for the Roosters.

Roosters vs Raiders Match Up

New South Wales Origin hopefuls Luke Keary and Jack Wighton are two of the most exciting running halves in the game and come face-to-face on Friday.

Wighton began his finals campaign in devastating form against the Sharks last weekend, tearing the Cronulla defence apart with his running game.

On the other hand, Keary has taken a stronger management role at the Roosters this season following Cooper Cronk’s retirement. If he produces his best form, the Raiders will find him immensely hard to hold out.

  • The Raiders have only scored less than 32 points once in their four match winning streak.
