Canberra Raiders host Brisbane Broncos at GIO Stadium on Saturday night in a game between two sides heading in opposite directions this season. The Raiders are firmly in the hunt for a top four finish, while the Broncos won't be playing finals footy without a miracle turnaround in form and fortunes.

Raiders Form & Team News

Canberra are fifth on the ladder with an 8-5 record and firmly in the hunt for the double chance that comes with a top four finish.

The Raiders haven't done a great deal of scoring of late, surpassing 18 points just once in the last five games, but it has been enough for three wins. The two losses in that time came against the top two in Melbourne Storm and last week to the Penrith Panthers.

Raiders will be unchanged with hooker Siliva Havili cleared to play after shaking of a triceps injury.

Broncos Form & Team News

It is now four straight defeats for the Broncos, who sit in 15th on the ladder with a 3-10 record and in a battle for the wooden spoon rather than the finals.

A sorry season is underlined by the fact Brisbane have the worst defence in the league having leaked 410 points. They have conceded 26 or more in 9 of their last 11 games, including in a 48-0 loss to the Tigers and 46-8 defeat to the Storm. They were followed more recently by losses to the Sharks (36-26) and Rabbitohs (28-10) last week.

Tevita Pangai Jr has been stood down and he is replaced by Ben Te'o. Jordan Riki will make his debut for the Broncos, while Corey Paix has been named on the bench at the expense of Issac Luke.

Verdict

The Broncos are a team that has been unable to find a plug to stop the leak of points. They face a Raiders side that hasn't been prolific on the scoreboard.

While Canberra should win comfortably, the -18.5 line might be too big for a team that has gone past that total only once in the last five games. Take Brisbane with the start and under the 40.5 total points line.
