The 2022 Queensland Cup is really heating up, with the competition showcasing some truly sublime rugby league action.

2022 sees the 27th iteration of the tournament , with the top-level of league rugby in Queensland moving up the gears. The competition, known as the Hostplus Cup, is a 24-week season that runs from March to September.

At the time of writing, the Burleigh Bears lead the way with 18 points from nine games following a single loss alongside eight victories. The Sunshine Coast Falcons are just behind the Bears following seven wins, one draw and one loss, with the top two incredibly close in the table.

Interestingly, the difference between first and 10th in the league is just eight points, with no side really able to stamp their authority on the league and create a big advantage.

While this means that most of the teams are still in with a chance of taking a top-eight place in the table, in the betting, it simply means there are a lot of teams that provide good value in their odds alongside a decent chance of winning.

Bookmaker Ladbrokes like the look of the Bears, who are rated at $3.00, while the Norths Devils, who sit in fourth, are next in the betting at $4.50.

Further back in the standings to win the Grand Finals are the Brisbane Tigers ($6.00), Sunshin Coast Falcons ($7.00) and the Tweed Heads Seagulls ($9.00).

While most of the sides in the league will hope to win the competition this year, they will first have to make it into the top-eight as they look to extend their campaigns beyond the regular season.

In the latter-stages of the competition, eight sides progress, with a total of four rounds to follow. The Qualifying/Elimination round will see first play fourth and second play third, with the winner of these games advancing straight to the Preliminary Finals. The loser of the qualifying round then has a second chance where they take on the winner of fifth vs eighth or sixth vs seventh in the semi-finals.

The winner of the semi-finals then take on the winners of the qualifying rounds, before the winner of each semi goes into the Grand Final to battle for the trophy.

With so much rugby still to come, who is your favourite to win the Grand Final?
