Parramatta Eels vs Sydney Roosters Tips
The Roosters and Eels will cap off Friday night footy in what is potentially a sudden-death matchup, with the loser taking an early mark in 2023 and can start booking their tickets to Bali.
The momentum shift in the Roosters' 2023 season has me backing them to cover the 3.5-point line as favourites against the Eels, especially after the news about Mitch Moses being out for the year.
The Eels have been busted open with 30 linebreaks in their last 3 games so I expect Sydney to score over 23 points this week, continuing with their current attacking form. Daniel Tupou has five tries in five games so we can expect him to cross the line against the Eels.
- 2011 was the last time the Roosters won a match against the Eels by less than 4 points.
- Sydney have scored over 23.5 points in their last 11 victories against the Parramatta
- Parramatta have conceded over 23.5 points in 9 of their 10 losses in 2023.
- Daniel Tupou has scored 5 tries in his last 5 games.
Head to Head
The Roosters have won five of their last seven games against the Parramatta Eels including a 28-20 victory in round 5 at Allianz.
The Eels have won two of three games played against the Roosters at Commbank Stadium.
Parramatta Eels Form
After winning five in a row, the Eels have now won just two of their last six and have slipped out of form with their finals chances starting to look very miniscule, especially now with the loss of Mitch Moses for the rest of the year.
The Eels conceded 12 Linebreaks to the Broncos in their 54-10 defeat, resulting in nine tries to Brisbane.
The Eels also conceded seven Linebreaks to the Dragons the week before and the Melbourne Storm broke their line 11 times three games ago.
Parramatta Eels Team News
There is plenty of movement in the Eels lineup, topped off by losing Mitchell Moses for the season. He will be replaced by Daejarn Asi moving to the 6 and Dylan Brown taking over in 7.
Reagan Campbell-Gillard moves back into the front row. Joe Ofahengaue will take over at lock and J’Maine Hopgood will play on the edge.
Maika Sivo also returns on the wing for the Eels.

Sydney Roosters Form
The Roosters have left their run late, but with three wins from their last four matches they are still in with a fighting chance of making the finals in 2023.
With wins over fellow bottom-eighters the Titans, Sea Eagles and Dolphins in the last month, Sydney have started to find a little attacking form scoring an average of 30 points in their three victories, which is 12 points more than their season average of just 18 points per game.
