Penrith Panthers vs Melbourne Storm Tips

Penrith Panthers have an exceptional record at home and can make that count against a Melbourne Storm side they have previously struggled against. The Panthers are yet to concede a point this season and that mean defence can help them to victory.

  • Penrith Panthers have won 22 of their last 25 matches.
  • Penrith Panthers have won their last 10 matches at Panthers Stadium.
  • Penrith Panthers have not conceded a single point in two wins from two matches this season.
  • Penrith have kept their opponents to 16 points or less in 22 of their last 26 matches.
  • Melbourne Storm defeated Penrith Panthers 26-20 in last year's NRL Grand Final.
  • Melbourne Storm lost 16-12 away to Parramatta Eels last week.

Head to Head

Melbourne Storm have dominated Penrith Panthers in recent times, winning 19 of the last 22 matches between the sides. That includes a 26-20 victory in last year’s Grand Final between the top two ranked sides.

Storm have enjoyed success at Panthers Stadium too, winning six of the last seven visits. The most recent, however, was back in 2015.

Penrith Panthers Form

Last year's minor premiers Penrith are unbeaten in two games and are yet to concede a single point in the 2021 season.

The Panthers produced a 24-0 shut-out win over a very poor performing North Queensland Cowboys side in Round 1.

Penrith repeated the feat when defeating Canterbury Bulldogs 28-0 last weekend in Round 2 in another eye-catching performance.

They have tasted defeat just twice since the start of the 2020 season, and are on a 10-game club record winning run at home.

Penrith Panthers Team News

Nathan Cleary has been named in an unchanged Panthers side, but a decision on his participation will be made ahead of the game due to potential concussion.

Api Koroisau remains out with a broken wrist, so Mitch Kenny retains his place.

Melbourne Storm Form

Melbourne Storm began the defence of their premiership with a 26-18 victory over South Sydney Rabbitohs at home in the opening game of the season.

They raced into a 22-0 lead in that win and were too good despite a second-half comeback from Souths.

Storm weren't able to dominate early in the same way against Parramatta Eels last week as they slipped to a 16-12 defeat.

Level at half-time and again with four minutes to play, the Eels scored a 76th minute winning try through Maika Sivo.

Melbourne Storm Team News

Melbourne Storm will be without Felise Kaufusi with the back rower sitting this one out through suspension.

Tom Eisenhuth starts in his place, and Aaron Pene and Nicho Hynes have been added to the bench. Tyson Smoothy drops to the reserves.
