Panthers vs Storm Betting Tips

It's third facing off against fifth on Friday night as the Melbourne Storm travel to NSW to face the Penrith Panthers.

The Storm are looking to maintain their stranglehold on this fixture after losing just two games in 14 years against the Panthers.

Panthers Form & Team News

The Panthers unbeaten run ended last weekend against Parramatta but were far from disgraced against the ladder leaders. Penrith were well on top for the majority of the match before conceding three tries in the space of seven minutes to give up the lead and eventually the match.

Dylan Edwards comes in at fullback in the place of Caleb Aekins, who moves to the bench. Liam Martin replaces Kurt Capewell in the backrow and Billy Burns slots into the interchange.

The Penrith Panthers team for Friday night can be found below:

1. Dylan Edwards 2. Josh Mansour 3. Dean Whare 4. Stephen Crichton 5. Brian To’o 6. Jarome Luai 7. Nathan Cleary 8. James Tamou 9. Apisai Koroisau 10. James Fisher-Harris 11. Viliame Kikau 12. Storm Form & Team News

The Storm are hunting three wins in a row following a strong performance against the Newcastle Knights at home. While the visitors looked to threaten the outcome late in the game, Melbourne's professionalism took over as they ground the young Novocastrians right to the line.

Jahrome Hughes was expected to be out for another week at least with a broken hand but the halfback could return early having been named on an extended bench. Brandon Smith is also named on the bench despite replacing Christian Welch in the starting side on game day in the past two rounds.

The Melbourne Storm team for Friday night can be found below:

1. Ryan Papenhuyzen 2. Suliasi Vunivalu 3. Justin Olam 4. Brenko Lee 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Cameron Munster 7. Ryley Jacks 8. Jesse Bromwich 9. Cameron Smith 10. Christian Welch 11. Felise Kaufusi 12. Kenneath Bromwich 13. Dale Finucane

Panthers vs Storm Match Up

Cam Smith was outstanding against Newcastle and like we suggested he would before the start of round four, as found a way to make the six-again rule his own. Api Koroisau is a focal point of Penrith's attack and always dangerous from dummy-half. This battle will go a long way to determining the outcome of the game.

  • The Panthers have won just two of the last 20 meetings against the Storm
  • The Storm win 80 per cent of their matches as favourites
  • The Melbourne Storm are undefeated at Campbelltown Stadium, winning in all four of their visits to the venue
