Rabbitohs vs Roosters Preview, Predictions & Betting

The Bunnies and the Chooks meet on Thursday night with one side looking to clinch a top-four berth while the other already has second spot locked away.

South Sydney will finish no lower than fourth if they can secure a win. A loss could see them slip outside the top-four with Manly hot on their heels.

The Sydney Roosters have second spot locked away, but the Tricolours will be looking to maintain momentum heading towards the finals.

Rabbitohs Team News

The Rabbitohs only have one change to the team that won 31-10 last week against the Warriors.

Tom Amone comes onto the interchange bench after Kyle Turner was ruled out after injuring his quad.

Roosters Team News

The Roosters have several changes as they look to register an eighth-straight win.

The confidence will build with senior figures Cooper Cronk and Captain Boyd Cordner returning from their respective injuries

Cordner return sees Angus Crichton dropping back to the bench in place of the injured Siosiua Taukeiaho.

Rabbitohs vs Roosters Head To Head

The last five matches between these two teams have been decided by 12 points or less with the Roosters winning three out of the five.

At ANZ Stadium, these two teams have clashed 14 times with the Roosters having the lead nine wins to five.

In recent times, Sydney has won three of the last five matches at ANZ Stadium.

Rabbitohs vs Roosters Match Up

The match-up of focus is the clash of the five-eighths Luke Keary and Cody Walker.

Luke Keary has been plagued throughout the year with concussion, but that hasn’t stopped him from doing his job. Keary is second in the NRL for try assists with 20 as well as second in line-break assists with 16.

After playing representative football for NSW Cody Walker just hasn’t been the same.

Wa;ler just hasn’t attacked the line as he did before Origin where he scored 11 tries and was involved all over the park. Leading up to that game, The Rabbitohs had only lost one game with Walker playing, but since they have only won five games.

For Cody Walker to win this battle and put the Rabbitohs in with a chance, he needs to re-capture the form that got him an Origin jersey.

Rabbitohs vs Roosters Key Statistics

  • The Roosters have scored 26 more tries than South Sydney this year
  • The Roosters currently leads the NRL in handling errors with 254 errors
  • The Rabbitohs are dangerous from dummy-half, running 328 times this year, second in the NRL

I am happy to take the Roosters at the line.

These matches are always full of spite, and I expect this match to be no different. I like the Roosters to win, but by how much will depend on which Rabbitohs team turns up.

The Roosters should have enough in hand to easily cover this generous line.
