NRL Premiership betting: Storm & Roosters stand alone

The Melbourne Storm and the Sydney Roosters are the two most likely teams to win the NRL Premiership in the eyes of the online bookmakers.

There's only two teams capable of winning this year's NRL Premiership in the eyes of the online bookmakers with last year's Grand Finalists the Melbourne Storm and the Sydney Roosters locked together at the top of the market.

The Storm, who sit three wins clear at the top of the ladder, are at the $3.50 quote with BetEasy to win this year's title, with the defending champion Chooks occupying that position alongside them despite being four wins adrift of the top position.

The pair are well clear in premiership betting ahead of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, which are at the $6 mark.

No other team is in single figures.

The market is having a tough time spliting the two teams that battled out last year's decider but if the coach of the lowly placed St George Illawarra Dragons is to be believed, his side are not out of contention just yet.

St George is at $67 to win the 2019 NRL Premiership, with the online bookies offering $7.50 for the Dragons just to make the finals.

The Dragons sit in 14th position on the ladder and have their work cut out for them just to make this year's finals series but Paul McGregor believes they are still in the premiership frame.

"I think we can win it," the coach said at his post-match press conference on Sunday night.

"And I know that sounds unrealistic sitting here right now, but that's how I approach every training session and every game.

"And if we do put our best performance in we're going to win games, we can a few in a row and play finals footy."

The Dragons are currently two wins behind the eighth placed Penrith Panthers and would need to win at least six of their last eight games to squeeze into the finals, but McGregor believes his side is still in with a shot.

"If we are healthy, look out."
