Although the Raiders have a good record against the Cowboys, Canberra haven't been fluent this season. A -10.5 handicap might well be beyond them with the Cowboys tipped with a start.

Canberra Raiders have had the best of things of late, winning four of the last five meetings against the North Queensland Cowboys. They have also won on their last three trips to Townsville.

Having started the season with four straight losses, the Cowboys find themselves 13th on the ladder with a 2-4 record.

Back-to-back wins over Wests Tigers 34-30 and Canterbury Bulldogs 30-18 last week have breathed life into the season for Todd Payton's side.

Although they scored four second-half tries of their own, the Cowboys will have been disappointed with the two tries conceded after the Bulldogs were reduced to 12 men.

The Cowboys have named an unchanged side following last week's win.

Jason Taumalolo is a week or two away from a return from a hand injury suffered in the opening game of the season.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (ankle) and Connelly Lemuelu (shoulder) remain sidelined.

Canberra Raiders Form

The Raiders are 3-3 for the campaign and outside of the eight after suffering a second successive loss last weekend to the Parramatta Eels.

Trailing 12-10 at half-time, the Raiders failed to score a single point as the Eels dominated the second period to win 35-10.

That followed a 30-10 defeat to ladder leaders, the unbeaten Penrith Panthers.

Canberra also suffered a 34-31 loss to the New Zealand Warriors in Round 3 when again they conceded 28 points in the second half as injuries hit.

The Raiders have lost Josh Hodgson to a calf injury with Tom Starling coming in at hooker.

Last week's dismal second-half performance has resulted in prop Josh Papali'i and lock Joseph Tapin being dropped. 

They are among with the reserves with Ryan James back at prop, Ryan Sutton moving to lock and Emre Guler coming into the front row.

Sebastian Kris starts on the wing in place of Bailey Simonsson, who has failed a HIA.

Corey Harawira-Naera and Corey Horsburgh will make their first appearances of the season after being named on the interchange. Sia Soliola drops to the reserves.
