For the second week in a row, the Broncos are involved in a Queensland derby. They will be full of confidence after last week's comeback against the Gold Coast Titans, but Brisbane just don't travel well at all. Back the Cowboys to win a closely fought derby.

The Broncos have got the better of the Cowboys in five of the last seven derbies. 

It was honours even in two meetings last year with the Broncos winning 28-21 in Townsville and the Cowboys gaining revenge 34-18 in Brisbane.

North Queensland Cowboys Form

The Cowboys saw a three-game winning run come to an end with a 24-20 loss at New Zealand Warriors last weekend.

They trailed by 20 points in Gosford and fell just short despite a second-half comeback.

North Queensland had reeled off three wins in a row against the Wests Tigers 34-30, Canterbury Bulldogs 30-18 and Canberra Raiders 26-24.

Having started the season with four straight losses, the Cowboys find themselves outside the eight looking in ahead of the derby with the Broncos.

Ben Hampton is ruled out with injury, so Jake Clifford returns at halfback for the Cowboys.

North Queensland also lose Justin O'Neill to injury. Javid Bowen comes into the centres for him.

Brisbane Broncos Form

The Broncos recorded their second win of the season with a comeback victory over the Gold Coast Titans last week.

Having trailed by 22 points after just 15 minutes, Brisbane came home with a wet sail to claim a 36-28 win at Suncorp Stadium.

It ended a run of four straight losses to the Melbourne Storm, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Penrith Panthers and Parramatta Eels.

It is now 13 defeats in a row for the Broncos on the road since winning in Townsville in Round 1 last year.
