The Knights were 20-16 winners when they sides met at Central Coast Stadium in Round 2 this season. That win made it four victories each from the last eight clashes.

Newcastle have had the better of things at home of late, winning four of the last six.

Newcastle Knights put up a spirited effort against South Sydney Rabbitohs last weekend, although it was still another defeat.

The 24-10 loss in Sydney made it nine defeats in 12 matches since the Knights won against the Warriors in Round 2.

It was an improved defensive performance from the Knights, who had leaked 36 points or more in three of their four previous games.

They went down 36-18 to Wests Tigers, 36-20 to North Queensland Cowboys and 40-4 to the Parramatta Eels.

Having been named to return from injury, star fullback Kalyn Ponga has since been ruled out so the Knights will make a change to their planned line-up.

Newcastle have handed starts to Mitchell Pearce (pectoral) and Hymel Hunt (hamstring) on their return to action.

David Klemmer is also back from a two-game ban, although he will start from the bench.

But Bradman Best is out and will miss up to two months of action after suffering a syndesmosis injury.

New Zealand Warriors Form

The Warriors were given a touch up by the Melbourne Storm last week, losing 42-16 at home on the Central Coast.

It was a fourth loss in the last five games following defeats to Manly Sea Eagles, Parramatta Eels and North Queensland Cowboys.

Nathan Brown's side did record a win over Wests Tigers in the last five games, but they are at a crucial point of their season with a 5-8 record.

Chanel Harris-Tavita has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a pectoral injury ending his campaign.

Sean O’Sullivan comes in for the Warriors at halfback, while Addin Fonua-Blake is also back in the starting line up after coming through his comeback from the bench last week.

The Warriors also have fullback Reece Walsh available following a suspension and it results in a reshuffle.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Marcelo Montoya move to the wings and Rocco Berry switches to the centres.  

Jazz Tevaga will start at dummy half for Wayde Egan, who is ruled out due to concussion protocols.
