Newcastle Knights vs Manly Sea Eagles Tips

Manly have racked up 221 points in their last seven games, while the Knights have managed just 114 in the same period. It’s just as lopsided looking at defence over the last 7 Rounds – Manly conceding 90 points to the Knights' 214.

The points should be going the way of the Sea Eagles, with in-form Tom Trbojevic tipped for more tries.

  • Newcastle Knights have lost 7 of their last 9 matches.
  • Manly Sea Eagles have won 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Manly Sea Eagles are averaging 31.6 points in hteir last 7 matches.
  • Manly Sea Eagles have won all 3 Sunday afternoon matches in 2021.
  • Manly Sea Eagles' Tom Trbojevic has scored 8 tries in his last 6 games.

Head-to-Head

These two sides have met on 54 occasions, with the Sea Eagles scoring 33 wins to the Knights 21. At McDonald Jones Stadium, the Knights have the edge, winning 14 of the 24 clashes.

Six of the last 7 games between these two sides have been decided by 8 points or less.

Newcastle Knights Form

The Knights had a solid start to the season, albeit against two of the poorer sides of 2020, when they beat the Canterbury Bulldogs and New Zealand Warriors in the opening two rounds.

The rest of the season though has been forgettable with just two wins since.

Losses to Wests Tigers, St George Illawarra Dragons and the Gold Coast Titans followed, before a last gasp try against an inconsistent Cronulla Sharks gave them a four-point victory.

Newcastle then lost to Penrith Panthers and the Sydney Roosters before beating the terribly out of form Canberra Raiders. They’ve since lost to the Tigers again and the North Queensland Cowboys last weekend.

Newcastle Knights Team News

Blake Green announced his immediate retirement from the game this week. Bailey Hodgson and Dom Young will be available next week, with Mitchell Pearce available in three weeks.

Hymel Hunt, Edrick Lee, Chris Randall and Pasami Saulo are all out long term.

In good news for the Novocastrians, Bradman Best and Kalyn Ponga will both return to the side this weekend. Kurt Mann shifts to five-eighth, with Phoenix Crossland moving to half. Simi Sasagi drops out of the 17.

Manly Sea Eagles Form

Manly have had a real rocks and diamonds year thus far. After four rounds they had endured one of the all-time worst starts to a season ever, by any club.

But a tight win over the New Zealand Warriors, followed by the return of Tom Trbojevic, has contributed to Manly winning six of their last 7 games.

Their attack in the first five games averaged just 9.4 points per game. In their six games since, they’ve scored an average of 34.6 points per game.

Last weekend, Manly humbled the second placed Parramatta Eels with a commanding 28-6 victory.

Manly Sea Eagles Team News

Manly have a string of players unavailable for the next 2-3 weeks including Dylan Walker, Haumole Olakau'atu and Kieran Foran.

Jack Gosiewski is due back in Round 17 and Josh Aloiai will be out until Round 20. Cade Cust looks likely to be out even longer, while Andrew Davey, Morgan Boyle and Manase Fainu are set to miss the season.

This weekend will see the return of Curtis Sironen on the bench, replacing the injured Olakau'atu. Karl Lawton will move into the run-on side in the second row.
