The Latrell Mitchell saga is finally over after the superstar centre officially announced his departure from the Sydney Roosters.

In an Instagram post, the 22-year-old made his split from the team that has won back-to-back premierships public, with the South Sydney Rabbitohs expected to be his landing spot.

Fox Sports Australia is reporting that Mitchell will sign a two year deal with Souths and will report for training duties at Redfern on Monday.

The news of Mitchell's deflection has done little to impact Roosters' threepeat chances in the eyes of Bet365, who still have the Tricolours as the $4.20 favourites for the 2020 NRL Premiership.

Despite no formal announcement from the South Sydney Rabbitohs, online bookmaker Sportsbet has moved the Bunnies onto the fourth line of betting ($11) ahead of the upcoming 2020 season.

An official announcement is expected from Souths sometime before Monday morning's pre-season session, where Mitchell will be unveiled for the first time in green and red.
