Gold Coast Titans vs Parramatta Eels, Round 19 2024 - Expert Prediction

The tide may have turned on the sunshine strip with the Titans getting two impressive wins in consecutive weeks and will be looking to quiet down their doubters with three wins on the trott. They face the Eels who will be missing their key man Mitch Moses and will likely struggle against an improved Titans defence.

The Titans will be on the attack themselves and we can expect Alofiana Khan-Pereira to be in the thick of it with the league’s leading try scoring looking to make it 15 tries or more this season and continue his perfect record of doubles against the Eels in his career.

Not expecting Parramatta to help the total along, the 52.5 points given by the books will be too large and the under to hit.

  • Parramatta have lost 9 of their past 10 games.
  • Parramatta have conceded an average of 33.4 points per game in their past 10 matches.
  • 5 of the past 6 matches between the Gold Coast and Parramatta has had a game total under 52.5 points.
  • Alofiana Khan-Pereira has scored a double in each of his two games against the Eels in his career.

Head to Head

Parramatta certainly have the edge over the Gold Coast in the head to head stakes with the Eels winning 6 of the past 7 games against the Titans since 2019.

However, the teams did split the chocolates in 2023 with the Gold Coast getting a two-point win against the Eels in Magic Round and Parramatta getting a one-point win 10 rounds later 25-24.

The Titans have put in a couple of decent performances, winning consecutive games for the first time since round 17 last season.

The Gold Coast shocked even their own fans with their biggest win in their club history, beating the Warriors 66-6 in round 16 at Cbus Stadium and followed it up with another impressive 20-16 win over Cronulla at Shark Park last weekend.

Defensively, the Titans were incredible against the Sharks, withstanding 59% of the territory to their opponents which led to 42 tackles inside their own 20m for just 3 tries.

The Titans did the little things right amounting as much pressure as they could by forcing the Sharks to play out of their own end with 7 forced drop outs and and 658 kick metres, almost double the sharks total.

Parramatta woes continued with a 32-16 loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs last Thursday night, which was their fourth consecutive loss and their ninth in ten games.

Considering they have arguably the best fit halfback in the game at the moment, the Eels cannot find a way to utilize the skills of Mitchell Moses and are averaging just 20.2 points per game in their past 10 matches and have scored 18 points or less in 8 of those contests.

The Eels defence is obviously an issue and appears to be getting worse, conceding 33.4 points per game in their last 10 games compared to their season average of 29.4 points allowed. They allow the most linebreaks of any team with the defensive line getting broken just under 7 times per game.
