The stage is set for new Titans coach Des Hasler to attempt to get his first win of the season against his former club, which he will meet for the first time since departing in 2022. The Titans were a much improved side last week and the jury is out if fairy tale fairy will visit Hasler, however, the Titans are predicted to put a scare in Manly at some stage through the match.

The Gold Coast and Manly saw golden-point action last weekend with Sea Eagles giving up a lead and the Titans chasing one down.Manly were able to get away with a point while the Titans failed to capitalize on a chance to get their first win.

I am definitely not sold on the Sea Eagles yet and their defence has definitely been an area of their game that is going to need some improvement if they are truly going to be recognized as a top-four contender. Manly are mid-pack when it comes to points conceded allowing their opposition 21 points on average per game and are generally coming in lapses in a match where they a giving up multiple tries in short periods of time.

I see the Titans being able to take advantage of this defect in the Sea Eagles and make a game out of it on Saturday, just as they did in Canberra last weekend. The question will be though, how many points will they let Chery-Evans, Brooks and Trbojevic orchestrate?

I have the Gold Coast winning either half of football, but if I was a betting man I would of course be on Manly. Both defences are soft at times and I expect that the Titans will put up 18 points or more in this one.

For Manly, Tommy Turbo loves a game against the Gold Coast and will be sniffing around to slide through the loose Titans defence once or even twice in this game.

The Coast lost in an absolute heartbreaker against the Raiders on Sunday with their first win still eluding them after going down in golden point 21-20, coming from 10 points behind in the final 5 minutes, then missing the first chances of the extra time to kick a field goal.

The Titans did look better defensively, which will be a real positive for the club after their horror start to the season, conceding an average of 29.2 points per game and 6.4 linebreaks. The Gold Coast were much tighter in defence and were able to deter the Raiders constant attack with Canberra having the ball for 11.25 minutes more in the match.

The reshuffle of A.J. Brimson into five-eight and Kieren Foran into halfback was a success, with the Titans looking more dangerous with the ball in hand than they have all season.

With Jayden Campbell going down and being out for a lengthy period, coach Des Hasler has opted to put Philip Sami at fullback to replace him.

A double by Alofiana Khan-Pereira last week has the flying winger locked in the starting 13 this week and Harley Smith-Shields at centre.

The combination with A.J. Brimson and Kieren Foran will also be tested again this week.

Manly had a victory in their sights but a couple of calls and brain explosions cost them a win against the Warriors with the game ending in a 22-22 draw. Either way, it was a good effort from the Sea Eagles to come away with a point from their trip to New Zealand after beating Penrith the week prior and keeping their momentum rolling.

Reuben Garrick returns from concussion and will replace Ben Trbojevic in the centres after suffering a hamstring injury.

Tommy Talau and Jason Saab return to fill both wing positions. Matt Lodge will also make his first appearance of the season with both Josh Aloaiai and Toafofoa Sipley out this week through suspension and injury respectively.

Nathan Brown returns to the side with Aaron Woods dropping out.
