The home team are statistically better in points for and against this year giving them a projected winning margin of 4 points in our models. The big difference though in this game is the Titans are missing a lot of go-forward with Tino, Fifita and Mo all away on Origin duty.
This is tipped to prove too much for the Gold Coast and I am backing the Dolphins to get up as underdogs.
- The Dolphins have covered 50% of their games as underdogs this year.
- In their first game this year, Mo Fotuaika made the most run metres and tackles for the Titans, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui scored a try and AJ Brimson had 3 linebreaks. All three are not playing this weekend.
- The Dolphins are 10-6 ATS in 2023, 2nd best in the League.
- Gold Coast have lost 8 second halves so far in 2023.
Head to Head
The first game of this south-east Queensland match up in round 8 went down to the wire, with the Dolphins coming back from a 26-6 halftime deficit to win 28-26.
Gold Coast Titans Form
Gold Coast were unable to get over the top of the Raiders in round 18, losing 26-22 despite amounting almost 2000 run metres.
Since their second bye in round 13 the Titans have gone 2-2 with wins over the Tigers and Broncos and losses to the Rabbitohs and Raiders. Inconsistency is the name of the game for Gold Coast in 2023.

Dolphins Form
The Dolphins are on a four-game losing streak, the longest of their short existence.
Poor defensive efforts against the Warriors, Sea Eagles and Eels were somewhat rectified as they restricted the Broncos to only 24 points last week but there is still a way to go for the newcomers who missed 51 tackles in that game.
The Dolphins conceded eight penalties in their loss to the Broncos helping them out of their own end.
