Cronulla Sharks vs Gold Coast Titans Tips

The Titans make their way down to the Shire taking on Cronulla at Shark Park for the first time since 2019. The Sharks will be looking to build a bit of momentum with a home victory against the Gold Coast which will go a long way in booking them a spot in the 2023 finals.

I might be crazy but I think that after a few weeks of poor results, the Sharks turned a leaf last round against the Rabbits. Not only was their new halves combination finally clicking but their defence looked more intact, which is why I am predicting UNDERS in their Friday night game against the Titans.

The Gold Coast have also been rusty defensively on the edges so a try from Briton Nikora is likely.

  • The Titans have scored UNDER 18.5 points in 2 of their last 3 games.
  • The Titans have not scored more than 18 points in their last 8 games against the Sharks.
  • The total has been less than 25 points at halftime in the last 3 Sharks games and the last 2 Titans games.
  • The Titans have conceded a try to opposing second-rowers in 6 consecutive matches.

Head to Head

The Cronulla Sharks have certainly had it over the Gold Coast Titans, winning eight consecutive games, dating back to round 8, 2018.

The Titans were in reach of a victory in both meetings in 2022, losing by just seven and eight points after being tied on the scoreboard at halftime in each match.

Cronulla Sharks Form

The Sharks silenced their critics for at least another week, getting a convincing victory against the Rabbitohs 26-16.

Braydon Trindell was the perfect compliment to Nicho Hynes in the halves, scoring two tries and one Linebreak.

More importantly, Trindell took a load of the creating and kicking pressure off the Dally M winner, which saw him come back to his best form after a couple of tougher weeks.

Cronulla Sharks Team News

Ronaldo Mulitalo's comeback on the wing, following a two-week absence due to a jaw injury, sees Mawene Hiroti move to 18th man.

Jesse Colquhoun joins the bench, taking Thomas Hazelton's place.

Gold Coast Titans Form

The Gold Coast couldn’t back up their surprising win against the Cowboys in round 22 with another upset against the Warriors in round 23.

The Titans did put in a gallant effort to stay in the match after Moeaki Fotuaika was sent off in the 16th minute of the match.

Jayden Campbell was a menace once again, making a statement to the 2024 head coach Des Hasler that he must be in the starting side every week next season.

After winning just one of their last six, the Titans finals hopes are in tatters and another loss this week will see their slim hopes disappear.

Gold Coast Titans Team News

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Jaimin Jolliffe will start in the front row after Moeaki Fotuaika was suspended for his hit in round 23.

Sam Verrills season is over and will be replaced by Chris Randall at hooker.

A.J Brimson is also most likely out for the season with Jayden Campbell fitting straight in at fullback.

I’m all UNDERS here predicting that the halftime total will stay below 25 points and the Titans will not manage to score over 18 points in the match. Briton Nikora will score for the Sharks with the Titans leaking tries to back rowers.
