Canterbury Bulldogs vs Melbourne Storm Tips

The Canterbury Bulldogs have been kept scoreless in 4 of their last 5 games and come into this game having last beat Melbourne back in 2016.

The Storm unleashed their attack last weekend against the lowly Broncos and there’s little to suggest that there won’t be more of the same in this match. Ryan Papenhuyzen and Josh Addo-Carr are tipped for tries and back the Dogs for another blank.

  • Canterbury Bulldogs have been kept scoreless for their last 3 matches.
  • It’s been 244 minutes of game time since the Canterbury Bulldogs last scored points.
  • Melbourne have won their last 5 matches against Canterbury Bulldogs.
  • Melbourne Storm have won 4 of their 5 matches against Canterbury Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.
  • Melbourne Storm have won 8 of their 11 regular season games played at ANZ Stadium.
  • Ryan Papenhuyzen has scored six tries in three matches this season.

Head-to-Head

The Bulldogs have a very good record against the Storm, having won 21 of the 42 games between the two sides. Overall, the Bulldogs have scored 10 points more than the Storm.

Melbourne Storm have won the last five straight games against the Bulldogs, although the Dogs had won six straight matches prior to that.

Melbourne won their first four games against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium. In their fifth and most recent clash at the Olympic venue, the Bulldogs won emphatically 39-0, however this was back in 2013.

Canterbury Bulldogs Form

A promising start to the year, despite recording a 32-16 loss to 2020 finalists Newcastle Knights, gave fans hope that the Dogs were on the improve.

But three straight losses where the Bulldogs have failed to score a single poiunt has quickly erased those early hopes.

They lost 28-0 to Penrith Panthers in Round 2, 24-0 to the 2020 wooden spooners Brisbane Broncos in Round 3, then 38-0 against South Sydney Rabbitohs last weekend.

Canterbury Bulldogs Team News

Lachlan Lewis returned last week before suffering a head knock which will see him sit out this weekend.

Jeremy Marshall-King is set to be out for another five weeks at least, while Raymond Faitala-Mariner is expected to be unavailable for almost three months.

Jayden Okunbor is hoping to return for the final month of the season before the finals, but Nick Meaney and Christian Crichton could both be out for the year with injuries.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak returns from suspension and will replace the injured Meaney. Corey Allan will shift to the centres and Nick Cotric will revert to the wing.

Josh Jackson and Luke Thompson both return from injury this week which are huge additions to the Bulldogs pack. Their returns push Dylan Napa and Renouf Atoni to the bench, forcing Dean Britt and Joe Stimson out of the side.

Melbourne Storm Form

The Storm have had one of their worst starts to the season, yet they are still sitting in the top 8 with two wins and two losses.

They opened their 2021 campaign with a strong 26-18 win over South Sydney Rabbitohs, before suffering a pair of narrow losses to Parramatta Eels (16-12) and Penrith Panthers (12-10) in the Grand Final rematch.

Last weekend, they belted the hapless Broncos 40-6, with fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen playing a starring role with four tries.
