Canberra Raiders vs Canterbury Bulldogs Tips

These two points have never been more important for Ricky Stuart’s Raiders with five teams sitting below them waiting for them to slip up and take their top 8 spot.

The Raiders will face the Broncos and the Sharks in the following two rounds so a loss here will mean that they will need to beat two sides above them on the ladder to make it into the 2023 Finals.

There is something inside of me saying to stay away from picking a winner here because it will probably be the loser, so I am going to stay neutral and take either team 1-12, following the trends. The Over is also trending for these clubs in their last 10 matches so I like the generous number of 45.5 to be beat.

Matthew Timoko scored in round 10 against the Bulldogs, who have allowed a try by right centres in their last three, so I’ll be taking the New Zealander for a four-pointer.

  • 7 of the last 10 games involving Canterbury have gone OVER the Game Total.
  • 6 of the last 10 games involving Canberra have gone OVER the Game Total.
  • 7 of the last 10 games played between The Raiders and the Bulldogs have resulted in a margin of 1-12
  • The Bulldogs have conceded a try to opposing right centres in their last 3 consecutive games

Head to Head

Canberra have won their last seven games against Canterbury, and also their last four at GIO Stadium.

The pair last met in Magic Round with the Raiders getting a slim four-point victory at Suncorp, 30-34. The Bulldogs had trouble stopping the Raider's backline movement with both centres and wingers scoring a try and Jordan Rapana scoring two.

Canberra Raiders Form

The Canberra Raiders have been doing it tough the last month winning just one of their last four matches. Their win was against Wooden Spooners the Wests Tigers and by only four points, which has plenty wondering ‘How are the Raiders the sixth best team in the league at the moment?

Last week’s loss against fourth place Melbourne really put their form in perspective. The Storm held the Raiders to just two points, while putting on nine tries of their own. Canberra conceded 10 Linebreaks in the match without breaking the Melbourne line. They were also outrun by 700 Total Run Metres.

This game is shaping up to be a tight, high-scoring affair so I am backing either team 1-12 and the OVER. Matthew Timoko will cross for the Raiders at right centre.
