Vegas Golden Knights @ St Louis Blues Tips
The Vegas Golden Knights take on the St Louis Blues in an NHL West Division regular-season game on Monday, April 5. The Golden Knights have been top of the West Division for most of the season, but a recent loss of form has seen them drop to second. The St Louis Blues had brief tenures at the top of the table in January and February, but are now fifth in the West Division.
This will be the fourth meeting of the season between Vegas and St Louis, with the Golden Knights leading 3-1. The Blues won their first encounter back in January, and Vegas have won the three since, most recently in late March in a match they dominated 5-1.
The Golden Knights go into this game off the back of three-straight defeats, while the Blues have lost their last six. I’m backing Vegas to get back in the ‘Win´ column by defeating the Blues in a close contest, by two goals or less.
- Vegas 2nd in NHL West Division
- Vegas are 24-12 this season
- Blues 5th in NHL West Division
- Blues 16-21 this season
Head to Head
The Vegas Golden Knights and the St Louis Blues have played each other a total of 14 times, with Vegas leading this head-to-head 8-6. In their last seven meetings over the past three seasons, Vegas lead 5-2. In their most recent match in March, Vegas were victorious 5-1.
Vegas Golden Knights Form
The Vegas Golden Knights are currently second in the NHL West Division with a record of 24 wins against 12 defeats. Vegas are four points adrift of leaders the Colorado Avalanche, who recently deposed them. Vegas had been top-dogs in the West Division for most of the season, but an inexplicable sequence of three-straight defeats has seen them slip to second spot, with the Minnesota Wild just two points behind them.
In fact it was Minnesota who has handed Vegas their two most recent beatings, via a 3-2 shootout last Friday, and defeating them 2-1 on Sunday (April 4). This is the first time this season that the Vegas Golden Knights have suffered three consecutive losses.
St Louis Blues Form
The St Louis Blues are currently fifth in the NHL West Division, with 16 wins and 21 defeats. St Louis spent much of the season in second place, but are now in danger of sliding into the bottom-three of the division. The Blues have suffered six consecutive defeats – their worst sequence of 2021 - and now they face back-to-back games against their nemesis.
It’s a far cry from the first two months of 2021, when St Louis were competing with the Golden Knights for bragging rights to the division, and they briefly achieved that on two occasions. Now they go into two matches with Vegas that could potentially change the course of their season for better or worse.

Verdict
This will be the fourth meeting this season between the Vegas Golden Knights and the St Louis Blues, with St Louis winning their first match back in January, but Vegas taking the last three. Their most recent encounter in late March saw Vegas win emphatically 5-1.
This game won’t be nearly as one-sided, but I’m backing Vegas to get back in the ‘Win` column with a close victory over St Louis in a game that will feature five goals or less. With Vegas’ no.1 hitman Max Pacioretty out injured, Mark Stone is my “Anytime Goalscorer” pick.
