Vegas Golden Knights @ St. Louis Blues Tips
The Vegas Golden Knights take on the St. Louis Blues in the first of two matches to be played over this weekend. This first game takes place on Saturday, March 13, and it features the top two teams in the NHL West Division; Vegas in top-spot and St. Louis second.
The Golden Knights may currently top the table, but they have switched places with the Blues several times during the course of the season. These two teams played each other back in January, and on that occasion St. Louis emerged victorious 5-4 after an overtime shootout.
Although Vegas recently suffered back-to-back defeats against the Minnesota Wild - currently 3rd in the West Division - Minnesota are a very good team enjoying their best form of the season. Prior to those defeats Vegas had been enjoying their own best run of form, winning six consecutive games.
I’m backing the Vegas Golden Knights to rekindle that prior form and to defeat the St. Louis Blues on Saturday in a close game, featuring four goals or less.

Head to Head
The Vegas Golden Knights and the St. Louis Blues have played each other 11 times, and St. Louis currently leads this head-to-head by six wins to five. These two teams faced each other three times last season, with Vegas edging that series 2-1. In their most recent match in January of this year, St. Louis edged past Vegas 5-4 following a penalty shootout.
Vegas Golden Knights Form
The Vegas Golden Knights have played 23 games so far this season, with 16 wins and seven defeats for a point’s total of 33. They are currently top of the West Division; one point clear of nearest rivals the St. Louis Blues with three games in hand. The West Division is one of the weaker divisions in the NHL, and overall in the NHL league, the Vegas Golden Knights only rank eighth.
The Knights are 6-4 in their last 10 games, and have lost their last two games. After winning six games on the bounce, Vegas suffered back-to-back defeats to the Minnesota wild, losing the first game (on March 9) 2-0, and the second two days later 4-3.
St. Louis Blues Form
The St. Louis Blues have played 26 games thus far in the NHL regular season, winning 14 and losing 10 although four of those were aftertime shootouts which earned them a point each time. There total of 32 point is one less than that of division leaders the Vegas Golden Knights, however as previously mentioned St. Louis have played three games more.
The Blues are 5-5 in their last 10 games, and like the Vegas Knights, will go into Saturday’s game off the back of two consecutive defeats. After four straight wins, St. Louis suffered back-to-back overtime shootout losses, first to the Los Angeles Kings and on Tuesday (March 9) to the San Jose Sharks.

Verdict
Back in January, the St. Louis Blues defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in an overtime shootout 5-4. Since then, these two teams have consistently been the best in the West Division, occasionally swapping places at the top of the table.
However, Vegas have always been the better team, and that’s reflected in the fact that they have lost just seven games as opposed to the 12 defeats St. Louis have suffered. I’m backing the Golden Knights to defeat the St. Louis Blues on Saturday in a close, hard-fought game that will feature four goals or less.
