Vegas Golden Knights @ Colorado Avalanche Tips - Avalanche to edge Golden Knights

The Las Vegas Golden Knights take on the Colorado Avalanche in an NHL regular season West Division game on Tuesday February 23. This will be the final game in a four match series between Vegas and Colorado.

Vegas are currently second in the West division, two points clear of Colorado who have a game in hand. The Golden Knights were top of the table but they have recently been deposed by the St. Louis Blues.

Colorado are third in the West division, but have games in hand over the teams above them, and should they win those games, would be comfortably top of the division. 

The Avalanche will take another step to achieving that by defeating Vegas again on Tuesday, their third win in a row over the Golden Knights, and a sixth straight home victory. 

The Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche have played each other a total of 18 times in NHL regular season games. Vegas lead their head-to-head by 10 wins to 8. That said, in the seven matches these two teams have played since the start of 2019, Colorado clearly had the edge, winning 6 and losing just once. 

The Vegas Golden Knights are currently second in the NHL West Division with 10 wins and five defeats, one of those being on an overtime shootout that earned Vegas a point. The Golden Knights have only played four away games this season and their record is currently 2-2.

Tuesday’s game will be the fourth in a four match series against the Colorado Avalanche. After winning the opening game 1-0, the Golden Knights of suffered back to back 2-1 defeats against the Avalanche, losses that have cost them top spot in the division. As the scoreline indicate, all three games between Vegas and Colorado have been extremely close hard-fought affairs.

The Colorado Avalanche are third in the NHL West division on 19 points, two points adrift of the Vegas Golden Knights and three behind leaders the St. Louis Blues. Colorado have won nine games and lost five, including an overtime shootout defeat which earned them a point.

Colorado have suffered with postponements during this season, losing almost 2 weeks of games in early February. The Avalanche are currently involved in a four-game series with the Vegas Golden Knights. After losing the opening match 1-0, Colorado have bounced back to win the next two by the same 2-1 scoreline.
