Kansas City are now 8-0 but they got away with another one-score victory, this time getting pushed to overtime by Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although, you may as well hand Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs the victory as soon as the game goes to OT. They walked 70 yards down the field on 11 plays alternating between completed passes and runs to score a touchdown on the opening drive.
Mahomes was stellar, completing 5/5 in OT and 34 of 44 for 291 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Kareem Hunt is filing the shoes nicely of the injured Isiah Pacheco, rushing for 106 yards on 27 carries.
The danger for the rest of the league is right here though. Travis Kelce 14 receptions for 100 yards and new recruit DeAndre Hopkins 8 receptions for 86 yards…. Ominous signs.
Despite allowing 3 touchdowns, the Chiefs defence held the Bucs offence to just 284 yards in the game and half of that was eaten up on two touchdown drives. Otherwise Tampa Bay was forced to punt 5 times in the match.
