The much rumoured launch of Matt Tripp's BetR betting brand has moved a step closer, according to reports.

The Herald Sun and The Australian newspapaers are both reporting that the new BetR venture has bought new online bookmaker TexBet.

Now a launch of the BetR brand looks likely in time for the Spring Carnival, one of the richest wagering events in Australia with huge interest in the Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup.

Rumours have suggested that former Sportsbet and BetEasy owner Tripp was preparing for a return to the wagering industry with BetR and now that looks set to come to fruition.

TexBet only made the move online earlier in 2022, but it looks like it will be a short stay with BetR reported to have bought the business.

Father and son bookmakers Tex and Wade O'Shea launched TexBet.com.au having been on-course bookmakers at racetracks in Northern NSW trading as O'Shea Bookmakers for years.
