The MotoGP World Championship is finally upon us with 21 races comprising one of the most exciting and unpredictable competitions in sport.
The first race on the calendar saw the MotoGP head to Qatar. The winner of the first race of the season was Italian Enea Bastianini. His race time of 42:13:198 saw him finish at the summit and pick up 25 points to begin the competition in the perfect possible way and really lay down a marker at the first time of asking.
The next race sees the MotoGP head over to the Mandalika International Street Circuit in Indonesia, with the race set to take place on March 20th.
The competition will run through until November 6th at the Valencian GP, with 19 races in between the first and last.
With this in mind, there is so much action still to come, but the bookmakers have already decided on who they think is the man to back.
Marc Marquez is currently $2.30 to win the MotoGP Championship this year, although it is worth noting that Marquez finished in seventh in the 2021 Championship with 142 points, barely over half the 278 points the eventual winner Fabio Quartararo was able to snare.
Interestingly, Quartararo is currently available at $8.00 with Unibet to win the competition and defend his crown, meaning he offers a good mix of value and promise. Perhaps his ninth-placed finish at the Qatar Grand Prix has seen his odds take a hit, although all it would take is one strong race to see the Frenchman come roaring back in the betting.
Away from the pair, Francesco Bagnaia ($3.50), Qatar Grand Prix winner Bastianini ($8.00) and Joan Mir ($12.00) are also fancied at this point, with the trio offering differing value.
With so much of the MotoGP season still to come, there will definitely be a lot of twists and turns to come. This means that betting on each race and the overall winner will only add to the excitement, with the field currently very tight at this stage of the season.
Perhaps there is good value in wagering on one of the favourites in the weeks to come, especially if their form takes a small dip. This would likely see their odds drift, and if you think that they will turn things around, then they could constitute a very astute bet.
