Wyong Tips October 1

Wyong Best Bet - Race 2 No. 3 Nyami

Our Wyong Best Bet is no spoil at a short early quote, however, it's tough finding what can defeat this resuming Chris Waller-trained gelding in what's a very weak Maiden.

A son of Charm Spirit and out of a daughter to a three-time group one winning mare in Tall Poppy, Nyami kicked off his career with a third at Canterbury last December before narrowly missing at Randwick-Kensington on January 3.

Over the 1400m on that occasion, he arguably should've got the victory when getting the late split but proceeded to throw it away late in a city event that has produced multiple winners and the time stacked up fairly for the class versus the Benchmark 70 later in that program.

The latest trial for Nyami was an eye-catching third and in a line-up that appears very light on for quality, he does look very well placed to breakthrough fresh.

Wyong Value Bet - Race 4 No. 14 Time For Victory

Despite going around at 25/1 via his Kembla Grange debut on September 12, it was a very sound first effort and he should've finished much closer than the eventual eighth of 11.

This colt is prepared by the very astute Mark Newnham stable who is striking at better than 24% at Wyong over the last 12 months and gets senior hoop Josh Parr on for this assignment, with this combination recording four winners this season from 15 attempts.

Time For Victory was beaten for speed early in that recent 1000m tilt but able to find his feet eventually to settle midfield, however, from there it was a mess as he found nothing but rear ends in the run home.

He's drawn out which is the knock although the step straight to six furlongs will suit and with that key race experience now behind him, this three-year-old is in the mix.

Wyong Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Ocean Emperor

Off the back of an excellent trial, this Bjorn Baker-trained galloper was heavily supported prior to his debut run at Randwick-Kensington on April 15 ($2.60-$2.10) and got the cash in a brave win.

That has proved to be quite a handy enough Maiden with subsequent stakes performers in Overlord, Saffiano and Pyrmont coming out of that event and had excuses when pulling up sore behind Peltzer and co at start two before being tipped out.

Ocean Emperor returns for his second campaign as a gelding and has had two trials in readiness for this return where he firstly ran second to Everest candidate Eduardo before closing off strongly behind a handy Written Beauty on September 22.

The son of Written Tycoon draws well for Jason Collett in three and he looks to find a very winnable first-up assignment via the last from Wyong this Thursday.

How do I bet at Wyong?

To place a bet on the Wyong races you'll need to be signed up with an online bookmaker.

Generally corporate bookies provide betting markets a day or two prior to a provincial or country meeting at Wyong and a little longer for their few bigger/feature programs.

Nyami is well found in Race 2 but he does look the best winning prospect on this October 1 meeting from Wyong.

Ocean Emperor should be right to roll fresh in the last where he resumes as a gelding.

Time For Victory was luckless on debut and is open to improvement in Race 4 at good odds.
