Read the reasons for our selections below:
Caulfield - Race 3 No. 1 Heresy
HERESY looks incredibly hard to beat after getting very close to the boys in the McNeil who have been lengths better than the fillies from day dot. She raced in fillies grade two starts back when she was first-up, running really well behind one of Victoria's better fillies Gimmie Par who would be winning this race. If she just holds her form, I am expecting her to win.
Gold Coast - Race 4 No. 8 The Move
The lightly raced five-year-old gelding keeps getting better, recording a hat-trick of wins last start when bolting in at Doomben over 1050m. The 900m is a new test for him with some proper speed machines in the event, but that could well suit with the speed on, he should be able to get over the top of the likes of Sugar Boom late in the piece. He is a really nice horse going forward and now going right through his grades, who knows where he stops?
Randwick - Race 5 No. 5 Private Eye
PRIVATE EYE won on ability first-up over 1200m and although the 1300m of the Theo Marks should've suited more, he settled in the next postcode early under Jay Ford, before making inroads up the inside, but was never in winning calculations. Blinkers go back on now and a Soft 5/6 suits, as does the step up to 1400m. Is much better than what he showed last Saturday and can bounce back.
Caulfield - Race 7 No. 11 Nonconformist
If NONCONFORMIST can't win this, he will struggle to win another race in his career unless he finds himself out of stakes grade. He ran well first-up in the Lawrence when struggling to find clear galloping room, but was on the pace and very good in the Feehan when toughing it out, wide the whole trip. My little issue is that I do not really want to be with any horses from the Feehan outside of the top two going forward as it rated poorly, but this is very weak and he has a turn of foot which none of these have over this journey.
Randwick - Race 9 No. 14 She's Ideel
SHE'S IDEEL is the best weighted horse on the card, carrying just 53.5kg under set weights and penalties for a mare that has placed twice at Group One WFA level in her last four runs, including a slashing fresh effort behind Verry Elleegant and Mo'unga. She was a little flat second-up, but can spike now, with the winner of this ballot-exempt from the Metrop, a Group One she's already favourite for.
