Caulfield - Race 5 No. 4 September Run
SEPTEMBER RUN looks one of the better bets of the day to me in this event. She is going to get a good pace out in front with Savatoxl, Dosh and Jigsaw all handy. She was enormous first-up at The Valley and had too much to do in the Moir, where she was probably looking for a longer trip. 1200m would be ideal, but she is three from four over 1100m and has an electric turn of foot when there is speed up front.
Randwick - Race 6 No. 3 Kiku
KIKU worked through the grades over her second and third preps, bringing up a group victory in the autumn. The trial leading into her September 25 return indicated she'd need the run, but has still performed well without luck, not getting clear until the 150m and was only hitting top gear at the 50m. Should only improve off that and she looks to have found the perfect race to bounce back in.
Eagle Farm - Race 7 No. 2 Apache Chase
This bold front-runner looks well placed to go back-to-back after pulling out more than enough to win first-up. He is a second-up winner and for me, just have the consistency on his side over Emerald Kingdom who can put in an odd effort every now and then. From gate four, he is going to find the fence and hopefully prove too tough for Emerald Kingdom who is expected to go all the way to the line with him.
Caulfield - Race 10 No. 7 Floating Artist
FLOATING ARTIST looks the best bet of the day to me, winning all three starts this prep and finally getting out to 2400m, which does not look a worry in the world seeing he did not finish far from some top class international stayers in 2020. He will be looking to win this to earn the spot into the Caulfield Cup and while he is in dominant winning form, why jump off now?
Randwick - Race 10 No.3 On The Lead
ON THE LEAD caught the eye late fresh after a tardy getaway and with a better gate, he likely beats Belluci Babe when covering ground at Gosford. In his last Randwick outing, he's finished second to Wild Ruler (subsequent Group One winner), beating a handy Andermatt in the process. J-Mac sticks and peaking third-up now from a good draw, this is D-Day.
