Flemington - Race 3 No. 2 Elusive Express
ELUSIVE EXPRESS was a real eye-catcher in the Thousand Guineas Prelude, and although it is not overly strong form, there is no standout filly this season. being by Jakkalberry, she is going to eat up the mile journey and will only need some luck from an inside gate to beat these fillies as she looks to progress towards the Thousand Guineas and likely VRC Oaks.
Flemington - Race 5 No. 1 Ingratiating
INGRATIATING was defeated by Ranch Hand last start, but now gets the blinkers applied which we saw in his two-year-old season saw him turn into one of the best of his generation. He draws wide so he will have a clear passage for the entirety of the straight and we are now getting nearly $4 based off one defeat. Expect a big bounce back with the blinkers on, so he will go around as our best bet of the day.
Randwick - Race 6 No. 1 Masked Crusader
MASKED CRUSADER looked the rising star of our sprint ranks off an excellent fresh win at Caulfield and while his colours were lowered in The Shorts, he was set an impossible task from so far back and got home okay considering. If this gelding is to roll Nature Strip and co in The Everest, then some better habits need to start now, which means not settling in the next postcode early.
Doomben - Race 7 No. 15 Ruuca
He was a blackbooker last start after attacking the line well at the Gold Coast in what was the faster of the two 1100m races on the day. The market has found him early as well, opening at $7 and into $4.80, so there is confidence there which is always a positive sign for horse you had planned to follow out of their last run. Now third-up into his prep, with just 54.5kg on his back, he looks superbly placed to storm over the top of them at his peak.
Randwick - Race 7 No. 1 Four Moves Ahead
FOUR MOVES AHEAD was the best two-year-old filly last season, but John Sargent was never going to have her peaking early with this Flight Stakes in mind. Fitness gave out fresh and after working home in the worst ground on September 4, she won the Tea Rose Stakes third-up, the traditional lead-up. I'd love for her to settle a little more, but she has class, tactical speed and handles any conditions.
