Read the reasons for our selections:
Kembla Grange - Race 2 No. 1 Mankayan
MANKAYAN was excellent over the mile in his Australian debut before dropping in grade and going to the 2000m here on August 28, an event he wins if Bowman still wasn't still in the next postcode when rounding the turn, but it was still a huge run. The 2400m is a big tick, this import finally draws a gate and it's a better set-up in the smaller field. With even luck, he should just be winning.
Doomben - Race 3 No. 1 London Banker
Since we blackbooked this ex-kiwi, he has not been beaten in three subsequent starts. He has shown that he has a nice turn of foot and what is most impressive is that he is adaptable, by coming back 200m in trip last start yet still proving too good for his rivals. He stays at 2020m for this event, and will get a gun run from barrier two once again, so it makes it impossible to look past him as the top selection of the day.
Doomben - Race 4 No. 1 Prince Of Boom
He lacked race fitness first-up and will be greatly improved from that outing to be striking here second-up. He does need to turn the tables on Startantes and Glorious Ruby who both beat him home last start, but the former is already hard fit and the latter can drop back in class, but until she does she probably won’t beat these better quality horses. He is a Group Two winner at his best and now up to 1350m, he is the horse to beat.
Flemington - Race 4 No. 5 Crystal Bound
In line for the second spot behind Aysar as my favourite horse is CRYSTAL BOUND who set the racing scene alight after her dominant first-up win at Moonee Valley last prep. She has a very high cruising speed which takes many other horses out of their comfort zones. She was then seen running second in the Percy Sykes Stakes to none other than Group Two Furious winner Jamaea, so the form is well and truly franked. She looks the best of the day to me.
Kembla Grange - Race 6 No. 4 Entriviere
ENTRIVIERE has really caught the eye with some big performances in NZ, winning five from seven and should be unbeaten, having been handed the visitors draw against Fasika in the autumn. With a wide gate and big weight, they made the right move scratching from the Toy Show and trialling instead. Better weight scale here and I think she's the best out-and-out sprinter in the field.
