Read the reasons for our selections below:
Doomben - Race 2 No. 1 Cuba
CUBA was as flat as a tack first-up before running nowhere, but not finishing too far from Rocha Clock last start. His form shows that third-up is when he really hits his straps which is how his form is trending this prep as well, with a record of six starts for four wins and a second. He will lead them up and is ideally suited in the small field where he can dictate.
Flemington - Race 2 No. 2 Sweet Karolina
SWEET KAROLINA is one of my favourites running around not only for her looks, but because of the way that she can attack the line. This season she has only missed the placings once from seven attempts, so she is a very genuine filly who will also be suited by the long Flemington straight.
Flemington - Race 3 No. 1 Sartorial Splendor
If SARTORIAL SPLENDOR runs up to last start's win, he is the best bet on the program. Matthew Cartwright takes the mount taking a valuable 3kg off of his back, bringing him down to 55kg. Nothing can lead him in this race and if not bothered too much in front, he will be off and gone before they see which way he is going.
Morphettville - Race 6 No. 4 Shop Til I drop
Second-up off a long spell (18 months) in the Queen Of The South was SHOP TIL I DROP, recording another second placing staying at 1600m and was very unlucky there with the eventual inside passage not opening until the 100m. Unbeaten from three attempts past a mile which includes a 2000m win at Morphettville, this screams as one that is ready to peak on Saturday. With even luck, she's best of the day.
Doomben - Race 7 No. 2 Eduardo
EDUARDO is the deserved favourite and the clear horse to beat after beating Nature Strip in the Challenge Stakes and winning the Group One Galaxy. The end of 1200m seemed to test him in the TJ Smith, but he spaced fourth and looks to have classes on these horses and most importantly, is the horse in form coming into the race.
