Read the reasons for our selections:
Caulfield - Race 1 No. 3 Gimmie Par
GIMMIE PAR really caught the eye when second down the Flemington straight to Ingratiating who went on to run second in a Blue Diamond and place in a Golden Slipper. She was backed at a price that day as well and truly gave the favourite a real scare. He comes right back a notch for this race and with a similar performance, she is just about the best bet of the day.
Randwick - Race 7 No. 2 Masked Crusader
At 34.19, MASKED CRUSADER rattled off easily the fastest last 600m of that entire April 10 meeting from Royal Randwick, and they were coming in at decent intervals after the first three home. The last five All Aged Stakes winners have all come through the TJ Smith Stakes, and he was comfortably the best performance in that sprint feature outside the winner.
Caulfield - Race 7 No. 4 Mahamedeis
MAHAMEDEIS is on the back-up after saluting last week when weighted and placed supremely. He handles back-up, winning two of his four attempts on the seven day back-up, beating an in-form Polly Grey at Moonee Valley the week after winning the Vobis Stayers race at Caulfield in July. If he shows up again, is the clear favourite in the event.
Randwick - Race 8 No. 14 Nudge
The query is that NUDGE remains at 1400m now third-up, but there's no doubt she's flying, and now plummeting to 52kg, this is her chance to strike from a better gate, which we're hoping Kathy O'Hara takes advantage of. On a tough April 3 meeting from Rosehill to be making ground on, she was enormous, recording a slick 34.08 for her last 600m (easily the race fastest). Just need her to settle closer.
Doomben - Race 9 No. 15 Skins
This lightly raced five-year-old has an outstanding record, yet to miss a place from six career starts along with four wins next to his name.
One of those victories was last start at this track when first-up, sitting midfield before running away at an odds on quote to win by more than three lengths.
Ryan Maloney has a good affiliation with this galloper, riding Skins in four his six career starts, and now taking the reigns once again to bring us home in the final event of the day.
