Read the reasons for our selections below.
Bendigo - Race 3 No. 3 Starry Legend
STARRY LEGEND could be anything based off the arrogance of his first-up win at Sandown where he extended right away from his opposition. He was dipping and diving down the straight so he has plenty of improvement in him and the fact the he had the fastest last 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m of the meeting at Sandown speaks for itself
Rosehill - Race 3 No. 7 She's Ideel
Following an outstanding return in the Millie Fox the Aspiration Stakes did look there for the taking with SHE'S IDEEL, especially with the scratching of Nimalee and despite looking as though she'd overcome the slow speed, the wide run to get into that contest just told late, where the daughter of Dundeel was beaten a pimple. Third-up, wet track and getting up in trip, this looks about hers to lose with any improvement. Best of the day on a tough card.
Rosehill - Race 5 No. 3 Mo'unga
The blinkers went on MO'UNGA for the first time in the Randwick Guineas in what was the biggest of all eye-catching performances from the son of Savabeel there, where after being blocked for a run early in the straight, was forced to come off the rail and switch all the way out to the middle lanes, where he hasn't balanced up until the 50m before launching late. Is better suited by barrier six this week (had two last Saturday) yet we're getting a better price.
Bendigo - Race 5 No. 5 Need New Friends
NEED NEW FRIENDS was Stakes placed last start behind Chaillot who we know is stacked with talent. She is becoming a very good place getter finishing second in four of her last five, but this is the type of race that she should now be ticking off as a win.
Doomben - Race 9 No. 6 Lashes
This five-year-old Mare has been a traveller this prep, running second to Tailleur in Sydney (favourite for the Group One Galaxy) before going to Melbourne and finishing two lengths from Probabeel (was favourite for the All-Star Mile) before being caught in the wrong part of the track at Flemington behind Fabergino (fourth in the Lightning) and Indian Pacific (second in the Newmarket).
Just by looking at that, you would ask yourself why she is not aiming at a Group Three or Listed event over the Sydney carnival with such strong form around her, but she may be in need of another confidence boosting win, now over 12 months between drinks.
She handles all going and seems to be as tough as they come, so from a good gate (four) and in a much weaker event, this Mare stands out as a great bet on the card.
