Read the reasons for our selections:
Mornington - Race 2 No. 4 Grand Promenade
GRAND PROMENADE is a very good horse on his day who just found himself in races not run to suit when last in work. He was brilliant fresh last campaign at Moonee Valley behind the smart Shandy before running fourth to Affair To Remember before finding himself in a very fast run race third-up when favourite. If he is fit enough to run a strong 2000m, he is the best horse in the race.
Rosehill - Race 4 No. 4 Verry Elleegant
A seven-time Group One winner that has developed into a world class galloper after having her faults early days and on rain-affected ground, is comfortably the best middle-distance runner in the country.
It's hard to really knock or be heavily with Addeybb, who got the better of her in a stirring edition of this race last year, but it really is a take on trust prospect given he has only been working at the quiet surrounds of Canterbury, with no public trials and there's no doubt Verry Elleegant is a better galloper now.
Returning to form last start with a typically brave and fighting performance in the Chipping Norton Stakes, the Chris Waller-trained mare has the perfect platform for the 2021 Ranvet Stakes and without sight of the favourite publicly, she's the safest option.
Eagle Farm - Race 6 No. 5 Joymaker
This Mare looks as if she is now in need of the 2206m after two consecutive runner-up efforts over 1800m at Eagle Farm.
She loves the Eagle Farm track with two wins and five placings form 11 goes, including a win over the track and trip.
She is quite short in the market, but deservedly so after two positive runs over trips short of what she is looking for this time in.
Rosehill - Race 8 No. 4 Haut Brion Her
With a Group One still missing on this mare's resume and bringing some elite form lines from last spring, I have no doubt that this is the major that Chris Waller is targeting with Haut Brion Her, who gets her best chance on Saturday to land a big one.
Still a lightly raced five-year-old with just the 12 starts to date, the clock is ticking for this daughter of Zoustar who barring here and perhaps a Sangster tilt in Adelaide, may not see many more Group One opportunities albeit she did take a big leap last preparation.
Stepping out of filly's grade, she was very brave in the last year's Everest as the only on-speed runner to really stick on where she was close up behind Gytrash and Bivouac and defeated home the likes of Nature Strip, Behemoth, Eduardo etc, which are the best sprinting references in the country.
Mornington - Race 8 No. 1 Ancestry
A great race this with ANCESTRY the hardest to beat around the tight bend. He was simply too speedy at Moonee Valley last week when bolting in the Abell Stakes subsequent to contesting the Oakleigh Plate. He handles all conditions and it was announced this morning that he is heading here instead of Moonee Valley so he is a must on top and the best bet of the day.
