Read the reason for our selections below:
Rosehill - Race 1 No. 1 Al Mah Haha
With a Metropolitan rating of 87, I doubt there is a better weighted/placed galloper in the country on Saturday than AL MAH HAHA who now finds himself in a Set Weights, Class 3 Highway after a fair effort behind a dominant Order Again on January 2.
Following a win over a Stakes-class Chat in the Goulburn Cup, the son of Al Maher competed in The Gong prior to a very competitive showing in the Group Two Villiers, form lines his opposition here could only dream of. He doesn't exactly win out of turn, but is an obvious selection here and should start shorter.
Sunshine Coast - Race 4 No. 10 Platinum Euros
The lightly raced four-year-old is blessed with ability, after almost knocking off the flying Garibaldi, before proving quite flat second-up.
What we wanted was to see him bounce off that second-up run and bolt in third-up, which is exactly what unfolded with a three-length win.
Now fourth-up, in-form and hard fit, he looks ready to go through the grades this prep and register his first city win, which looks the start of a strong career in the metro area.
Rosehill - Race 5 No. 6 Marsannay
Dropping in grade third-up and now rising to 1400m looks the perfect recipe for 6. MARSANNAY to be peaking now. The son of Snitzel was three-wide and ran into third via the Gosford Guineas first-up with Malkovich and The Face being subsequent city winners from that event.
He fared no better second-up, racing three-wide once more but stuck on gamely for third. That form reads very well for this, especially around The Astrologist (90-rater), who had a kinder run and was very competitive the following Saturday in the Magic Millions Cup. With Tim Clark aboard, expect the handlebars to be down early and for this colt to look for the lead.
Trentham - Race 7 No. 3 Melody Belle
You would have to be crazy to not have this remarkable Mare as the top selection of the race, looking for Group One win number 13.
Her first-up form can be a little scratchy at times, so if they are going to beat it will be in this, but first-up at the mile simply oozes confidence from the stable about how she is prepping this campaign.
She did not come up in her first few runs last time in where she was stabled over in Sydney and never looked to be enjoying it, where she then came back home and racked up another two Group One wins in her own environment.
The way to have her is in winning form coming to Australia, so although this Group One is not the end goal, this is an important step towards a $5M race in March, so they will want to be ticking this race off.
Caulfield - Race 9 No. 3 Defibrillate
DEFIBRILLATE has been awesome this prep, racing a with more ping in his legs over a shorter trip than he did last preparation. He was brilliant first-up before knocking off Paradee at Caulfield over 1700m and comfortably beating Mosh Music (subsequent winner) and Double You Tee (subsequent place getter) at his last start over 2000m. He now comes back to 1800m but race arguably inferior opposition. Best of the day.
Multibet FAQ
What is a multibet?
A multibet is a combination of bets rolled into one wager. You can increase the odds by adding selections. A multibet must consist of at least two selections.
What is the minimum stake for a multibet?
There is no minimum - you could place as little as $1 on your multibet.
How is a multibet calculated?
The odds are combined to give you a total price for the multi. When you win on leg one, that amount is then rolled onto leg two and so on. The winning price is your rolling stake placed on the final leg of the multi.
