Warwick Farm Racing Tips For May 13 2020

Midweek Sydney racing heads to Warwick Farm where mostly fine conditions are predicted on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The rail is in the true position and the track is in the Good 4 range.

Warwick Farm Favourites

Race 1 No. 4 Acrophobic

An interesting two-year-old handicap opens up the Warwick Farm card on Wednesday with this first starter sharing favoritism with Hinchbeast who has some decent form around his first campaign.

Prepared by the John O'Shea stable, this half brother to Quintessa (dual group placed over the Sydney Autumn Carnival) arrives here of the back of three trials, including two recent hit-outs.

Following a softer piece of work on April 21, he was ridden out for second at Randwick on May 5 in what was safely the fastest 1050m heat that morning.

The seven furlongs looks a great starting point for Acrophobic and the betting will be interesting late for this galloper who looks ready to produce straight away.

Warwick Farm Best Bet

Race 6 No. 8 Petronius

Racing in the famous Arrowfield gold and black diamonds is this son of Redoute's Choice who made a sound return here on April 29.

Asked to carry 61kg on that occasion and taking up a prominent position early under jockey Kerrin McEvoy, he appeared to be under pressure some way out, but stuck to the task well in an event set up perfectly for the eventual winner in Satin Socks.

Whilst Petronius has only one win to his name from six career attempts, he handled Promotions (subsequent listed winner), Entente (Group Three winner over the Autumn) and Calada (Group Two Stan Fox winner) in that strong September 2019 maiden.

A slightly kinder draw would've been ideal, however Petronius does have the early toe to overcome that over 1400m and with any luck, is very well placed as the best bet at Warwick Farm.

Warwick Farm Next Best Bet

Race 7 No. 10 Lillemor

Sharing the same fresh form lines as Petronius is this three-year-old that had no luck via that same April 29 race.

After drawing barrier ten of eleven there, she was forced to cover extra ground throughout and was entitled to tire with the 2.6 length losing margin quite good under the circumstances.

A daughter to the 2003 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, Lillemor won two of three attempts in her first racing preparation and maps more favorably on-speed here from gate seven.

Lillemor is certainly open to improvement and staying at the same weight back against her own sex, is capable of taking out the last as one of the more progressive runners in the field.

Warwick Farm Value Bet

Race 5 No. 1 Ulysses

The first-up Newcastle victory on April 23 had much more merit than the 0.3 winning margin suggested.

Trained by brothers Richard & Michael Freedman, this gelding has been a model of consistency following his October 2019 debut with two wins and three seconds from his next five outings.

Ulysses was there to be run down fresh where he was exposed early in the straight but pulled out plenty to hold off an in-form Trophies Galore, a usedul mare that's won five races and wasn't disgraced behind a freak Masked Crusader at Randwick on Saturday.

Coming back to 60kg courtesy of the Jean Van Overmeire claim and perhaps being a little more genuine than most of his opposition, Ulysses is good value in the early markets.
