Warwick Farm Preview, Best Bets & Race Tips

Warwick Farm gets to host Sydney’s midweek meeting as things start to heat up on the track, with just over a week away from the Group One Winx Stakes.

The track is currently rated a Good 4 and will remain that way with clear conditions predicted.

The rail is in the 3m position which in the past has produced winners on the pace early in the card with runners getting very wide as the day progresses.

Warwick Farm Favourites

Race 4 No.6 Lifetime Quest - $2.05 at Beteasy

Lifetime Quest has come up short here and is under the odds.

The market and the punters have over-reacted to the previous run at Randwick.

Firstly, he got a cakewalk out in front which he will not be getting in this race with likely speed from Cuba on the inside as well as three other runners.

Everything went his way, from the easy run in front to the favourite struggling towards the rear of the field. He also is up in grade and weight slightly which doesn’t bode well for him.

The last query is the step up in distance which is not ideal. Last preparation he attempted this distance he had his chance to win but got beaten and didn’t beat much. Waka was the only notable runner out of this race, and she was barely beaten by him even though this was well short of her pet distance.

Good luck if you’re taking the shorts.
Race 5 No.1 Bennelong Dancer - $4.20 at Ladbrokes
This mare has an amazing turn-of-foot and I look forward to seeing it again Wednesday.

She only had one major blemish last preparation where she was unable to make ground from the second half of the field.

Blaike McDougall gets the ride for the eleventh time in her career and he will also get the 2kg claim down to 57kg. She gets a beautiful draw here and will be able to camp behind the hot speed.

As long as she gets the clear air at the top of the straight, she is going to be hard to hold out.

Warwick Farm Roughies

Race 4 No.9 Perfect Pitch - $7.00 at Bet365
This race will once pan out perfectly for this mare.

Last start over this track and distance, Perfect Pitch was beaten by the narrowest of margins attempting to run down Helga. This was always going to be a tough feat with the shocking draw, as she had to do a lot of work late in the piece.

She gets a much better draw here and with Glyn Schofield sticking I am expecting a similar ride from a much handier position in the running.

She goes slightly up in grade but loses 2.5kg on that run and with a fair amount of speed drawn in this contest, she will get a nice cart into the home stretch.

This is her much-preferred distance and with the track remaining dry, she isn’t a bad bet.
Race 7 No.6 Intrepidacious - $6.00 at Neds
She will look to make it two-in-a-row here coming back to town and is a good chance to do so.

So far in her career, she has faced many class runners and only ran on a good track twice. The first attempt she was just outclassed in the Pierro Plate last preparation and the other was her last start win at Hawkesbury where she thumped her rivals.

Although she didn’t look to beat much that day, she amazingly ran a 1100m time quicker than the one Tenley ran at Randwick in the Pierro Plate.

Although she is up in class, the pick-up of Louise Day to ride gives her a 3kg claim which drops her to near the minimum weight and will also carry the lowest weight in the race with one other.

With a good draw and an even tempo, expect her to be right in this finish.

Race 2 No.3 Almerheri

There are three horses under $10 in the betting and I think she is the best of them.

She is coming into this race on the back of a solid run last start behind Helga where I thought she was doing his best work late.

This mare is now third-up which is nothing but beneficial, especially when stepping up to the mile, which is much needed.

Almerheri is coming back in grade slightly but only gains 1kg on her last run. She will get the in-form Nash Rawiller on her back which will give her the best ride throughout with the weight carried.

If she can keep her sights set on the leaders throughout, she will be hard to hold out under Nash’s urgings.

Warwick Farm Best Bet: Almerheri - $4.00 at Sportsbet

Warwick Farm Next Best

Race 1 No.3 Contango

It is always a risk putting a first starter in for best bets, but I think he will be worth the risk.

He showed in the trials that he had a bit of class, especially in the second trial.

Sitting outside the lead for most of the race, he went with the eventual winner and leader of the trial Lucky Imperator to the finish. Not only did they beat the rest of the field by three lengths but Lucky Imperator was also urged along and persuaded whilst Contango was not.

There is a slight query on his first start being over 1300m, but he has some class that will get him through.

Warwick Farm Next Best Bet: Contango - $2.90 at Bet365
