Warrnambool Racing Tips March 12 - Can Saone bounce back second-up?

We are off and away for the start of the 2020 jumps season.

Races one and two are over the hurdles while race four is a steeple event.

The track is rated in the soft range for the jumpers but will improve in the latter half of the card with a 31 degree day ahead.

Race 6 No. 4 Saone

This Lindsey Smith trained galloper was disappointing first-up when favourite at Ballarat, but has the ability to bounce back here at her home track.

She has a lot of gear changes going on, the ear muffs go on while the cross-over and tongue tie both come off.

I think she races best with a little bit of give in the ground, with her best performances coming on good fours or soft rated tracks (besides the synthetic win).

Once the track gets to the harder side of a good track she may find it a little hard for her.

With the track in the soft range for the jumps races, I am hoping it can maintain a bit of that moisture throughout the hot day to make it not only perfect for racing, but perfect for Saone as well.

Race 7 No. 3 Rushin' Rhonda (SCR)

I was on this mare last start over 1100m, a trip that probably was too short for her, but she looks ready for the sharp jump up in trip now by the way she hit the line.

What sits in her favour here is that there looks to be some speed up front with Astro Castro and Unusual bowling along, giving her the opportunity to run home over the top.

Josh Cartwright sticks with her and has a great affiliation with her.

I do not like that she wears bar plates, but if the track does not get too firm, she is definitely the horse to beat, stepping up to the 1400m.
