Usain Bowler drives past Tavisan to win on Saturday at Moonee Valley
Caulfield-based trainer John Sadler believes Usain Bowler is good enough to run in the Group One Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on September 21 following a gritty win at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Usain Bowler took out a benchmark 84 contest at the Valley, running down Tavison in the shadows of the post to deliver his fourth win from 13 attempts.

Sadler said his five-year-old has recovered nicely following his solid performance.

“He pulled up super well. We are very pleased with the way he pulled up,” Sadler told Bets.com.au.

The win was Usain Bowler's second success at Moonee Valley from three attempts.

John Sadler plans to keep Usain Bowler at the track for his next assignment before aiming for bigger ambitions in the spring.

“He will head to Moonee Valley for a benchmark 90 in three weeks,” Sadler said.

“Then we will look for another 1200m race in between that and the Rupert Clarke Stakes.”

Usain Bowler is currently a $51 chance via Ladbrokes for the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, but the gelding will have the added advantage of coming into the race at the minimum weight.

If Usain Bowler is successful in the Sir Rupert Clarke it would be Sadler's first ever Group One win at his home track of Caulfield.
