2021 Royal Ascot Day Two Tips

Race 1 - Queen Mary Stakes Tips

Two American fillies top the betting here, and the fact they've been drawn on opposite ends of the track should ensure an even pace throughout this five-furlong sprint.

Drawn down the center we find NYMPHADORA, who quickened away from some decent rivals to win the Listed Marygate Fillies' Stakes at York last time out. Andrew Balding's juvenile is by a former Royal Ascot winner in No Nay Never, and his progeny have tasted plenty of Ascot success in recent years. She looks a cracking each-way bet at 10/1.

Race 2 - Queen's Vase Tips

Aidan O'Brien has made this race his own in recent seasons. The master of Ballydoyle has won five of the last eight renewals, while also saddling the runner-up in 2019 and 2014.

Another win here will see O'Brien match Sir Henry Cecil's record tally of eight Queen's Vase victories, and WORDSWORTH looks perfectly suited to this sort of challenge.

Wordsworth is a full brother to former St Leger winner Kew Gardens, who also won this race during his Classic campaign in 2018. Wordsworth placed a close second behind High Definition last year, and was last seen going down by a neck to Sir Lucan, who runs in the King Edward VII Stakes on Friday. Quick ground won't be a bother for Wordsworth, and it's easy to see why he's so dominant in the market.

Race 3 - Duke Of Cambridge Stakes Tips

Lady Bowthorpe edged out Queen Power when they met in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket in May. Lady Bowthorpe enters this on the back of a superb run behind Palace Pier in the Lockinge, two days after Queen Power romped to victory in the Middleton Stakes at York.

While both hold strong appeal, LAVENDER'S BLUE was only beaten half-a-lenth in the Dahlia Stakes. Amanda Perrett's five-year-old hit the front going into the dip that day, but looked a little unbalanced as she met the rising ground and was passed by two stronger stayers in the closing stages.

Lavender's Blue was well-beaten on her reappearance in this race 12 months ago. However, results thereafter showed she probably wasn't at her best throughout 2020. Jim Crowley's mount has run really well on both her starts this season, and first-time cheek-pieces could draw out even more improvement.

Race 4 - Prince of Wales's Stakes Tips

Race 5 - Royal Hunt Cup Tips

BRUNCH was my NAP on Dante day at York, so I was gutted when Michael Dods' four-year-old was pipped to the post by Kynren. The handicapper has upped Brunch three-pounds for that runner-up finish, but Callum Rodriguez mount is still yet to reach his full potential and should be very competitive after landing a kind, high draw.

I'm also going to take a punt on REVICH, who'll be ridden by track specialist, Hayley Turner. Richard Spencer's five-year-old ran on well for fourth in the Spring Cup, and stayed on well at Chester after getting outpaced on the rail in the early stages. Revich has run well on his last three visits to Ascot and looks massively overpriced at 50/1.

Race 6 - Windsor Castle Stakes Tips

Wesley Ward throws two of his quickest fillies' into this Listed sprint. Ruthin is all the rage in the betting, but I'd rather side with GOLDEN BELL at a more appealing each-way price.

Ward's filly clashed with a well-regarded juvenile of Tom Amoss' on debut at Keeneland. The joint 4/5 favourites went head-to-head down the home straight, but it was Golden Bell who kicked clear to win by over five lengths. I think she's more straight forward than her market-topping stablemate, and she could hand her trainer a twelfth Royal Ascot success.

Race 7 - Kensington Palace Stakes Tips

A terribly tricky way to end a very competitive card, but I fancy a punt on CASPIAN QUEEN for returning trainer, Sean Woods. Since joining Woods from Richard Hughes' yard, Caspian Queen has run twice on the all-weather, getting up late on to carry 9-7 to victory at Kempton last time out.

Although she's spent most of her career running over sprinting distances, Caspian Queen saw out seven furlongs really strongly at Kempton and Sepoy has produced many high-class milers. James Doyle retains his spot in the saddle, and fast ground will really suit this speedy sort.
