Glorious Goodwood Day Three Tips
Race 1 - Kincsem Handicap Tips
A fascinating way to start the day, and we'll the lean the way of 7. DINGLE, in the hope that he takes to this new trip.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt has bumped into several talented three-year-olds during his career, with many of those who've finished ahead of him reaching a rating around the 100 mark. On the only occasion Dingle has won, he saw off Recovery Run - who placed third in Wednesday's opener - on slow ground over a mile at Kempton.
Last time out at Newmarket, Dingle travelled into the race well but couldn't find that extra gear when asked. Footstepsinthesand has produced several horses who've excelled over trips beyong a mile and this could be another.
Race 2 - Richmond Stakes Tips
7. KHUNAN ran really well to finish a close sixth behind Perfect Power in the Norfolk Stakes when last seen at Royal Ascot.
Before that, Richard Fahey's juvenile inished a strong second over six furlongs at Pontefract and the winner that day, Angel Bleu won the Vintage Stakes on Tuesday, while third-placed Lusail won the July Stakes two starts later.
Hollie Doyle takes the ride and this two-year-old could run much better than his position in the market suggests.
Race 3 - Gordon Stakes Tips
After he comfortably beat Adayar at Lingfield, 7. THIRD REALM was predicted to run well in the Epsom Derby.
Roger Varian's colt broke out of stall two alongside Adayar, but had the door slammed in his face as the field made the first right-hand turn which lit Andrea Atzeni's mount up a little and, after running keen for the best part of half-a-mile, Third Realm was outpaced and shuffled back to ninth as the runners swamped him at the bottom of Tattenham corner.
Credit to him, Third Realm plugged gamely to finish fifth, while subsequent runs of Adayar, third-placed Hurricane Run and Bolshoi Ballet have really boosted the stature of this year's Derby.
Race 4 - Nassau Stakes Tips
Although Empress Josephine got the better of 4. JOAN OF ARC in the Irish 1000 Guineas the best horse finished second that day.
Joan Of Arc was up with the pace throughout and engaged in a furious battle with No Speak Alexander down the home straight and just when Ryan Moore's mount looked to got the race sewn up, Seamie Heffernan came flying home from off the pace on Empress Josephine and nabbed Joan Of Arc under the shadow of the post.
Like Ryan Moore did at the Curragh, Iortiz Mendizabal gave Joan Of Arc a positive ride in the Prix de Diane. O'Brien's filly made hard work of it, wandering a little when she first came under pressure. Once they passed the furlong pole, though, Joan Of Arc really knuckled down and she was doing her best work as she crossed the line a comfortable winner.
Joan Of Arc is a full sister to stars like Gleneagles, Marvellous and Happily, who won seven Group Ones between them over seven furlongs and a mile. While none of her siblings really convinced when stepped up to ten furlongs, the way Joan Of Arc finished her race at Chantilly suggests this could be her best trip and there's clearly more progression left in her locker.
Race 5 - Fillies' Conditions Stakes Tips
Simon and Ed Crisford have had five winners in the last week, and 4. ASWAN looks to have been handed a very workable opening handicap mark.
The son of Caravaggio ran well behind two strong Godolphin juveniles on his first couple of starts and was then beaten a nose at Epsom, when giving five pounds to the filly who beat him.
This handicap has been kind on fancied horses over the last decade, and Aswan will enjoy the drying ground.
Third Realm (Race 3) will run as our best bet on day three of Glorious Goodwood.
Joan Of Arc is the one to beat in the feature (Race 4) and Aswan is an each-way chance in the fifth.
