2019 Zipping Classic Tips - Can Humidor bounce back?

The Zipping Classic is a Group Two WFA race run over 2400m, a race often where we see a Melbourne Cup runner back up and start short in the event.

The race is worth $300,00 and is dominated by those horses in the market.

This year, Humidor looks the standout on quality and boasts a strong enough resume to write his name into the history books.

Zipping Classic Best Bet - Humidor

He is the best horse in this field by the length of the Flemington straight, the only issue being he is yet to strike his best form this time in.

He showed a glimpse of his best three starts back in the Caulfield Stakes, almost pinching third in that particular Group One.

He had been aimed at the Cox Plate this preparation, but after not getting a start, the stable ran him in the Moonee Valley Cup over 2500m, certainly not his pet distance.

He was just plain last week in the Mackinnon against much stronger opposition.

I would be surprised if the stable did not run him considering the quality of nominations, but if the real Humidor shows up, I would be taking whatever price he opens up at.

Zipping Classic Value Bet - Venture Storm

Ventura Storm is not an in-form commodity coming into the Zipping but he has a genuine class factor that cannot be discounted.

It's been a dissapointing campaign thus far from the Lindsey Park gelding, but the last-start fourth in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday was encouraging given he was only 2.5 lengths off the stylish True Self.

The short back-up could be a minor concern but Southern France is running in the same race after the brutal two miles of the Cup just four days prior and he comes into the race as the hot favourite.

If anything is going to upset the top two in the market, it's Ventura Storm and he looks the value bet in the Zipping Classic.

Humidor looks to be over the odds at his price and if he's anywhere near his best he could put a major gap on this field.

Ventura Storm backs up after a run on Stakes Day but he's classy enough to figure in the finish.
