2019 Mackinnon Stakes Day Racing Tips - Can true Self win the Queen Elizabeth?

We have come to the last day of the Flemington carnival and what a fantastic three days of racing we have seen.

The track has played remarkably well considering the amount of racing and the bits of rain we have had since Saturday.

Again, the outisde will play favourable down the straight while I think getting a few pairs off the fence would be benefiial coming around the bend.

Flemington Favourites

Race 9 No. 7 Morrissy

I blackbooked this horse last start at Moonee Valley where she was unsuited over the 955m.

He now comes up to the 1100m and strikes the most open race of the carnival besides the Cup.

Drawing barrier 11 is perfect for how the track will be racing come the last race of the day and with Craig Williams in the saddle, it only adds confidence.

He has a fantastic record over the 1100m and looks hard to beat in what is an open race to finish off the carnival.

Flemington Roughies

Race 1 No. 7 Flying Sardine

I will only be backing this galloper if the track is wet, which I am expecting it to be with a lot of rain on the way.

She rocketed home in the Peninsula Cup on Sunday to be beaten under a length.

I have heard that she is going very well at the moment and she may be ridden differently to try and help her hit the line.

Being a mare from New Zealand, her best form is on rain effected going and she is a six time winner over the mile, so she looks well suited in this race.

Flemington Best Bet

Race 4 No. 5 True Self

Now that Prince Of Arran has gone on to claim second prize in the Melbourne Cup, her form looks outstanding for this 2600m event.

Last start she was second to Prince Of Arran in the Geelong Cup, finishing just a half head behind that galloper, looking like she only needed two more bounds to win the race.

Coming up to the 2600m looks ideal as does having champion jockey Ryan Moore aboard.

There is not too much depth here with most of these runners the 'emergencies' for the Melbourne Cup, with only two that would have been competitive in that field on Tuesday.

Flemington Next Best Bet

Race 5 No. 1 Santa Ana Lane

Despite going down narrowly in this year's Everest, Santa Ana Lane is still Australia's best sprinter.

He was victorious in this race last year and could not have been more impressive in doing so.

Santa will come into this race third-up, he will be rock hard fit and always improves further into his preparation.

The stable have said that he is fit and firing which gives me confidence we will see him at his best.

He has drawn barrier five but will settle back and be searching for runs as he did to win last year's race.
