Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap Tips (Race 1)
Sandown Value Bet - Race 1 No. 2 Holster
A new addition to the Yargi yard, this ex-Hawkes runner has shown a lot of ability at his five starts to date and began his last campaign with a narrow second to the eventual Victoria Derby runner-up in Hit The Shot.
Had he still been trained by Hawkes, you could probably reel his price in to $5 if not shorter, but because he is now with a smaller stable, just goes out that couple of points.
The son of Tavistock has had two jumpouts to prepare for this race with the latest really catching the eye when storming to the line hard held to finish second in what was a reasonably strong heat.
This looks an ideal kick off race and I would not be shocked to see some big punters step in late.
Welcome Back Members Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Sandown Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 7 Brazen Brando
He was heavily back first-up this campaign in a rather strong benchmark 70 where he was just touched off by the city class Power Boom.
This gelding has shown good ability to date, running well in this grade and showing up in strong races as a two-year-old a couple of seasons back.
Brazen Brando has not lived up to that potential that he showed us but that great first-up performance indicated that he may have turned the corner now.
Expected to improve second-up and with star hoop Jamie Kah in the saddle, he gets his chance on Wednesday.
Quayclean Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Sandown Best Bet - Race 8 No. 4 Fundraiser
The reason this horse is not a lot shorter in the market is because of the wide gate and the step up to 1400m, but the form has been well and truly franked from last start with the runner-up Brazen Song bolting in at Werribee.
Our best bet has always shown a touch of class for the Lindsay Park operation, running three lengths behind The Astrologist first-up who is rated well above anything in this line-up.
Fundraiser steps back up to the seven furlongs which he was tested at last campaign, but that was not a true guide on whether he could run that out as it was not a race run to suit.
Damian Lane on is a positive booking and we're looking for this son of Helmet to progress further at Sandown on Wednesday.
