Pereira (navy, white sash) is expected to be hard to beat on Thursday

Sale Best Bets, Betting Predictions & Preview

Sale will host a huge ten race card on rain affected ground.

The rail will be out six metres for the entire circuit so I am expecting them to swoop Thursday.

Race 9 No. 9 Spensierato

This mare comes out of a superior form line to her rivals here, finishing only two lengths behind Benitoite and Taksu. That race was run over 1600m where she settled out the back and came home strongly with the third fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m of the race.

She steps up to the 1700m today and she gets the speed up front with Stormy Shore and Ripplebrook setting a strong pace. The mare is unbeaten on a heavy track and I think will keep this record in tact.

She carried 56kg last start and will only go two kilograms back to a benchmark 64.

If she can reproduce a performance like last start, this race should be all over.

Race 6 No. 1 Pereira

He was very good at Bendigo coming out of a strong benchmark 64. He was favourite but was only just beaten by a top wet tracker in Grandview Avenue and a smart one of Patty Paynes. He carried 59kg and will only go up to 60kg in what looks much weaker company on form.

Barrier six looks the perfect draw and Damien Lane in the saddle looks a major positive. There is also no reason why he should not handle the wet track.

Sale should suit his racing pattern, having a long straight to show off his turn of foot.
