Belmont Roughie Tip
Belmont Roughie - Race 4 No. 5 Elbow Lounge
He's racing well without winning and Elbow Lounge arrives here second-up after an eye-catching return over this track/trip on August 28.
The five-year-old recorded the fastest closing splits of that Class 1, where a wide alley forced him well back early before working home on the cutaway late.
While he's technically up in grade, carrying half a kilo less with a senior hoop going on is a big positive and they have more option this time from gate four.
Via his last second-up attempt in April, Elbow Lounge split two talented horses in Richanco and Wearechoux, with the latter a Listed winner on July 20.
Doomben Roughie Tip
Doomben Roughie - Race 9 No. 8 Patmos Island
He'll be at peak fitness now with four winter runs completed and with a lack of speed outside of Patmos Island, that should allow the gelding to find the lead.
The son of Dissident is best suited when rolling along up front, with the gelding one-paced last time when crossed and he tired late after working early two starts back.
Patmos Island landed good bets second-up at Eagle Farm in a race that's produced two subsequent winners and form has also held-up form his other events.
Both market elects are rising in grade, while another key threat in Divine Purpose will likely spot them a start from a wide draw, so he should give a sight at big odds.
Moonee Valley Roughie Tip
Moonee Valley Roughie - Race 4 No. 13 Gentian Blue
There was little separating Lauding and Lincoln Rocks from their last clash, and the former arguably should be fav with the claim (and only fourth-up here).
Neither market elects make appeal at their current quotes and the each-way bet is Gentian Blue, a lightly raced New Zealander who isn't far away.
A mare who was Group 1 competitive in New Zealand before a spell, Gentian Blue was 1400m to 1800m last Saturday when making inroads on the rail.
The 2040m is well worth a try off that most recent appearance and a low draw here will help offset any queries over this extra distance.
Morphettville Roughie Tip
Morphettville Roughie - Race 9 No. 6 I Catchem Fox
He's been unlucky either side of a maiden win at start two and going off his first prep performances, out to seven furlongs is well worth a try now.
I Catchem Fox was hard to miss late via his latest appearance in a Horsham BM64 and for the same benchmark in Adelaide, that form should hold up.
The penny hasn't fully dropped with the four-year-old, while this trip away will hold him in good stead in bringing him on for subsequent campaigns.
He's got the talent to take this out and while a lack of early speed has been the knock, I Catchem Fox can get into a better rhythm early over this longer trip.
Randwick Roughie Tip
Randwick Roughie - Race 9 No. 11 Annulus
It's a wide open Midway and at bolters odds is Annulus, a galloper who has been competitive multiple times at this level and he's ticking over fairly well.
After a solid return, he overcame trouble to finish fourth-of-ten over seven furlongs and coming out of a fast-run race second-up should top him off nicely.
Annulus is now right down in the weights (4.5kg less than his last run) and he's open to further improvement with a 1400m run under the belt.
The six-year-old has recorded two wins and a second from four third-up attempts, which includes a victory last prep and he was supported late there.
